Colnago for sale.

$old

I can find very little about this model. Not sure if it’s XL 1988 or 1988 XL.

i know it’s legit. Even with out the rear drop outs are panto’d Colnago. There is another (but nicer) on eBay for $1320.

Steel frame made from Columbus double butted “Cromor” steel. I had to look that up. It compares with SL. Last two pics are for you to “compare and contrast.”

Originally this bike was sold with traditional drop bars. They have been replaced with a more upright stem and flat bars, making this bike the ultimate commuter or pub bike.

Let me list the components:
Front and rear derailleur: Shimano 600
Down tube shifters: Shimano 600
Rims: Campagnolo Lambda clinchers
Hubs: Colnago pantographed Ofmega 36 hole (both).
Cranks: brand new FSA Vero, 50/34 teeth
Pedals: rat trap of unknown make.
Rear cog: shimano 7 speed
Brakes: Shimano 105 side pull
Brake Levers: Tektro
Seat post: Selle San Marcos Benvenuti a bordo
Saddle: WTB

will deliver from Seattle to the Bay Area, as long as tolls are paid.

Cromor is really good stuff, but not on the level of SL. It is basically the descendent of Aelle, and is rolled and seamed, and a bit heavier.

Comparable to Columbus Tenax (it is actually the “same”, but not opening that can of worms).

I’ve been surprised to see just how many top end Framebuilder‘s use it, including the Pinarello that Mad honk just sold.

Based on the pump/head tube ratio, thought that might be the case. Oh well.

$525 until sundown Sunday. Otherwise it gets parted. Those Panto'd hubs / campy wheels would look great on my Colnago tandem.

Don’t be surprised, it’s good tubing. I love my Van Tuyl made from Cromor. It is sturdy, responsive and comfortable steel.

i guess Reynolds 501 would be the comparison.

I have an Olmo made of Matrix.

I would say that Tange 900 and Reynolds 501 are a better comparison to Cromor than SL or Alle Columbus.

same fork.
Frame is Cromor. Forks whatever all COLNAGO forks were made of.

Sloped fork, Mexico, new mexico, super and Master in 1988 were all the same Fork.

In 1989 the Precsia fork was offered.

My Colnago tandem has a Benotto fork for reasons I don't know.

I wondered if Benotto made a beefier fork for tandems so I took it to my local builder at Bantam (former Bilinky head builder) to ask if it was special in any way. He said it was not.

Then I wrote Colnago asking if I could buy an old-stock Tandem fork from them or if they could direct me towards a vender. They said all forks were the same.

Not quite believing that, I pulled 3 different sloped crown forks for compare and contrast. All chrome, one from a Super, one from a N. Mexico and one from a 1985 Master (before the inverted lotus looking lug and before precsia)

Same stack height. Same weight, same tubing. All had the fat pigeon stamp and all had a number on them that corresponded with the number stamped in the rear drop-out.
