1972 Motobecane Le Champion

Continuing to thin the herd, as we are moving.... here is a '72 Moto Le Champion, frame size 21" CTT. Typical crazed original paint and decals. Has the standard set up including:
Special Campy Tipo hubs with kidney shaped cutouts, laced to Mavic Championnat du Monde tubulars and alloy nipples
'72 dated NR rear derailleur
3TTT Record stem and bars
Universal 61 center pulls - note this has original but not dried out gum goods, exceedingly hard to find
Stronglight 93 crank
Lyotard 65 pedals
Ideale 80 saddle

Right. I'm staring at this 1978 Mercian Vincitore frame I've been messing with and collecting parts for with a rapidly rising price tag wondering what's the point? If this bike was my size it would be almost exactly what I'm building at half the price and just as beautiful.

Regardless of the nice price, heck of a great classic. Beautiful.
Although it doesn't really matter but is this frame really from 1972? I thought they had chromed socks and a riveted headbadge.

Hey guys, for this vintage of Le Champion they had the foil headbadge. I think the riveted badge came around 1973-74. My '75 Le Champion has a foil badge as well, but it is a different "M" design.

Also, I forgot - my '73 Grand Record has this badge, which was between the old foil and the riveted metal badge.....
