Do I need to remove original rim tape before fitting tubeless tape?
I want to run tubeless tires on my Merida Scultura, which came with Jalco (maddux-wheels.com) 17C internal width rims. These have a red "woven" rim tape fitted (see attached images), which I understand is not "tubeless-ready".
This tape is quite thick, and presumably protecting the inner-tube from the spoke holes.
My question is whether I should remove this tape before applying tubeless rim tape (I bought 20mm wide for the 17mm ID rims)?
Many thanks!

Tubeless tape is really a sticky tape and needs to create an air tight seal.
The original rim tape is just a band, just use a plastic knife to pry it out and save it.

Most definitely remove the tape first. Besides possibly causing seal problems, doubling up on rim tape will make for difficult tire mounting and seating. That's true both for tube and tubeless tires.
