Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

It depends what it is. If it's like a star, there's only one way to look at it. and that would be 12/6

Yes.

That reminds me, my Colnago has Ernesto's trademark logo on it and it's slightly rotated at the moment. I really need to change that.

This is the Ritchey stem on the old Cannondale, which despite being from the early 90s and close to the bottom of Cannondale's range, has a threadless headset. So, 2x "Ritchey" 180 degrees opposed. I decided on 3:00 and 9:00, since I figured then neither one is upside down. Or both are. One of those.

Depends on the logo

Just landed in Flagstaff. There is snow on the ground. Wasn't expecting that.

Since Thanksgiving, I have been afraid to step on a scale, knowing for absolute certain that I'd be well above my target weight, given all I've been eating. Today, I threw caution to the wind. 200.2 lbs. Pretty much my target weight for the moment. I have no idea how I didn't gain at least 5 lbs in the last month. But apparently I didn't, so I bought a dozen donuts and ate all of them I made myself a nice lunch of slices of dry salami with an apple and some leftover broccoli. And I did not feel deprived, because I LOVE dry salami and apples and broccoli.

I lost about 5 during my trial. Now the challenge is to keep it off.

A guy at work just got back from Bahrain, and he brought back chocolate covered dates. I love dates, and I love chocolate, but never once thought to put them together. I could have sat down on the floor with them right next to me, and not stood back up until they were gone. So good. I only had 3.

A third of their starters weren't going to play anyway. Sad that these kids feel that they just don't have to play if they don't want to.

My plan for this Christmas break was to take advantage of having all kinds of time when the sun was up to ride outside A LOT, get more miles on my C&V bikes, enjoy the crisper air, etc.

Hahaha. Haha. Ha.

Fate is a witty little MF'er, isn't he?

Everything is good, or at least tolerable, when coated in chocolate.

My BIL was enlisted in the Navy, an electronics specialist, in satellite communications. Back in the mid-70s he was stationed in Bahrain. My sister HATED IT. "Armpit of the World" - hot, but not dry because of being in the Persian Arabian Gulf. Lizards. Bugs. Couldn't wait to come home, though she did bring something good back from there - my nephew.

Fast forward several decades. BIL retired from the Navy, and went to work for the DoD as a civilian. The people he'd had to salute now called him sir. His job takes him to Bahrain, and my sister goes with him. This time, it's MUCH better! Turns out the problem was mostly being enlisted, vs. civilian employee. Better pay, better treatment.

You could pick out a solid colored one here or a pattern that won't trip the OCD switch.

My choices were a bit limited by the fact that it's a 1" headset, and I figured since the stem is heavily emblazoned with the Ritchey name, the cap might as well be. I had had a Bontrager cap on it, since I had that lying around, but it bothered me.
