1988(?) Muddy Fox Limited Edition Valuation?
What's the collective opinion on what looks like an all original Muddy Fox Limited Edition. My research says it may be a 1988 model.
From What I can see it has a Sugino AP110 Triple Crankset, Suntour XC 9000 RD, Araya RM25 Wheelset, SunTour Accushift Thumb shifters, Roller cam Brakesfront/rear on chainstay, Muddy Fox quill stem, Muddy Fox tires. I believe it is Cro-Mo triple butted Tange. Looks like a teal color. May even have original lycra covered seat.
How rare are these? I've never seen one.

I have never herd of a Muddy Fox. Based on what I see, I would not pay much for the bike. $50 tops but that is just me. On the same thought, it has been my experience that rare or little know brands are not worth much. I had a hard time finding a buyer for this top of the line German machine, a late fifties Rabeneick 120d...

I had a friend who rode a Muddy Fox for years. Prolly had 25,000 miles on the frame.
Absolutely zero brand awareness out there. $40-50 maybe. More if you part it out.

It is cool, and looks to be in pretty good shape. I'd say $75-$400 depending on location, whether or not it needs any work done, and how well you present the ad.

I don't remember seeing too many fillet-brazed MTB frames BITD. That makes it fairly unique from a classic 26er standpoint.
There might be specific interest from those who admire the fillet brazing aesthetic enough to want one of these.
Have you tried asking on MTBR?

Nice bike but not well known with some nice components. As sits I would be a bit more than others here at $100-150. One could likely to 2-3x that maybe a bit more on a part out if there up for ugh shipping the frame set international. I would guess the stem, crank set and thumbies would fetch more than the bike as a whole. I do like the look and vibe of the bike I have and have several similar bikes they make great riders. To me this one would be worth more as a rider than the time and effort to sell it.

This brand was more widely distributed in the United Kingdom, but there was a distribution company in Menlo Park, California.
I have seen what is supposed to be a 1988 Muddy Fox catalogue and your Limited Edition is not an exact match to this catalogue.
Araya serial numbers can be used to determine the date of frame manufacture, which in turn can be used to help determine the model year.

I had a person wanting it from the UK. Too bad it sold.
This bike would have been for personal use. I'm always looking for unusual bikes that are rare or seldom seen as keepers for my stable.

I see Muddy Foxes pop up locally ever so often. Some seem like junk, others have seemed pretty interesting. I had forgotten about the Araya connection, I think my Peugeot Canyon Express is an Araya frame?

Also interesting that these had the rebranded SR long neck stem with underside pulley fairly pricey part for mid level bike at the time it was built or now.
