Jeunet Captivante
Just bought this dinosaur of a bike, for 100$ in France. It a bit pretty heavy, but I guess to be expected for a bike of this type from the 50's.
Any ideas on the value in the US So Cal market? What should I do with it? Should I fix it up and ride it? It's a pretty awesome looking bike.
Any ideas on what model and year exactly it is.
thanks.

I'd give you $150 for it in a second if it was my size. This thing is soo sexy!

So Cal is a hot market but I doubt this will get much interest as it is 'just an old 10 spd' to most people. I would try and sell it here, you won't get top dollar but it will go to a loving home, or the CR forum if you can get past the gate keeper.

Got it in one.
Value on this is hard to place, because this pondside, that is a pretty rare egg. If it were 62, I'd pay 150 pretty damn quick, though, so I think it is a) really cool, and b) worth more than that. Although I would let (a) cloud my thinking, not (b).

I was surprised as some of these randonneurs sell in the multi thousands.
I think you should keep and ride this bike and pass it along to your children. I love that chainguard.

So I'm digging the saddlebag which looks like it might have come from some french version of a spaghetti western.

Thanks everyone. I'm absolutely in love with the bike, if one can love a bike. I'm gonna take it to the bike collective in Paris to fix it up and go from there. It's size 55 normally and I'm more a 57. But since its just going to be a bike "pour se promener" I think it's not such a big deal. I can't wait to get it running smoothly so I can roam around Paris with it. Yeah the sacks are cool and actually can be found in France without too much difficulty.

GO for it... fun is more important than $, and this bike looks fun. It may be a bit later than you think, sixties perhaps. I'd drop a hundred on that all day long, tho....

Classic Jeunet with original fenders and racks I wouldn't even begin to price. Just fix it up and ride. This bike is keeper for just
about anyone here won't give price because I wouldn't sell.
