Fork Replacement
Hi Guys,
Hopefully an easy question here.
I'm replacing the fork on my hybrid and I just need to know a little about QR skewer sizes.
I have this bike: https://www.evanscycles.com/products/...25462#features
and I've ordered this fork: https://www.chainreactioncycles.com/M...?ModelID=85071
Is 9m QR a standard size? I only thought of that after I hit the order button! and I can't find what size QR is on the current fork.
Thanks.

9 mm refers to the axle diameter where it sits in the dropout, and it's the most common one. Doesn't have any impact on q/r size.
Q/r sizes are only listed in length. Front and rear. Sometimes embellished with rear MTB (135 mm OLD) or rear road(130 mm OLD). There are a few extra long ones for bike trailer attachments, and some extra bulky ones for trainer use, but that's about it.
A bigger concern for you is that the bike you've linked to has a 700C AKA 28" AKA 622 mm ETRTO wheel size, but the fork you've linked to seems to be intended for the 26" AKA 559 mm ETRTO wheel size.
You probably should have been looking for a 29er fork.
Normally, replacing a 63 mm travel fork with a 100 mm travel fork may not be such a hot idea. But if you're trying to fit a 26" fork in a 29" frame maybe the changes will kinda cancel each other out.

Nah. Apart from real old stuff, the only other front wheel axle diameter is on the thru-axle design forks/hubs, which yours isn't.
But the 26" / 700C, you need to check that out.

That fork won't fit your bike.
As others have mentioned, you need a 700c/29er fork, a fork for a 26" bike will be too small for the diameter of the wheel, and the rim / tire will hit the forks brace.
For the travel, not seeing that as too much of an issue, as a lot of that should be taken up by sag, but the Rock Shox you have ordered is a very budget fork, and may not give the option for this, it will change the steering slightly though. Can't see that it is an upgrade, more realistically, it's at the same level as a stock fork, or a downgrade.

I just emailed CR to cancel the order...hope they can do that for me.
Anyone know of a 100mm 29er suspension fork that can take rim brakes?

80mm would be a better amount of travel for your frame.
What are you doing on this bike to require 100mm of fork travel.
Do you have any warranty on this bike ?
If so then I'm sure that putting a 100mm fork on it will void your warranty.

With Cobba here, why do you need 100mm travel, or realistically, suspension forks at all? Hybrids don't really need suspension forks.
If you really want 29er forks with v-mounts, they can be found https://www.chainreactioncycles.com/M...?ModelID=81571 If you want a 29er, you would be better getting a bike with a frame designed for off road use, as the cost of a half decent fork, will be similar to the cost of half of a bike.

So CR won't cancel the order but they will take a return after its sent? Which will cost me a bomb to return mail a fork...no thanks.
For those wondering...this is a bike that don't ride a whole lot after a few later purchases and I was just wanting to play around with the stack height. I ride it to the train station sometimes (in my suit) and I was wanting a much more upright position. So it was partly that and partly wanting to play around on a bike and pretend I was a mechanic for a day...
$103 lesson...but at least I know where not to shop.

Did you check your order status? if it was processing, they should have been able to stop it, if you call them, and speak the them, they are normally pretty good, if it was shipped, then it's on it's way to you, and there is nothing anyone can do till it arrives.

Anyway - mostly my fault for ordering a part when I was half asleep. But I'm also a little disappointed in CRC. I'll look elsewhere before shopping there again.
