Levers too high up or something? I see that here and there, but it's never struck me as being a ton of them. Now that you mention it, though, I'm sure confirmation bias will kick in and I'll see them at every turn.

The difference in shifting was enough to give pause, but the addition of hydro, and SRAM using DOT fluid (as opposed to Shimano's mineral oil), would add just one more wrinkle to maintenance, and I'm at the point where I'd rather eliminate wrinkles.

For me, if something wakes my fully after 2 or more hours, my body says, "That was a nice nap" and won't let me fall back to sleep.

Yah, especially since I suck at a lot of the maintenance tasks beyond lube and cleaning and derailleur adjustment.

New Covid strain was confirmed in Saratoga, most likely from community spread.
Our positive rate is now something like 11%.

So different hydro fluid systems is NBD, since the LBS will be taking care of it.

Once it's set up properly, I think that hydro disc is much easier and less time consuming to maintain than rim brakes. I know that the old hats can knock out rim brake pad replacements pretty easily, but caliper centering, pad alignment, clearance, toe-in, etc was always a fiddly pain in the ass for me. With hydro, I can't even justify cracking a beer to swap the pads.

A guy in one of the mtb clubs I sometimes ride with is selling a steel one from 2017 for $750. It looks great and has 105 double with hydraulic disks. Too bad it's a 58. I thought about going to test ride it but I'm pretty sure the bars would be too low.

Wow, that would be an awesome deal. I shopped that model some time back - their steel frames get a lot of love.

Levers too high or bars rotated up, which amounts to the same thing. Of course, the lower you are on the bike, and the more horizontal your arms, the easier it is to get to the brakes, but I don't think that's what I'm seeing.

Kickr ride complete... switch bikes... wife now grinding away...
The Kickr, my Propel, my wife's Amira, and my WC VTX all have their freehubs shimmed to be identical so bikes can be swapped off and on in a few seconds with no adjustments. Makes using a trainer less of a hassle.

My wife’s Christmas present finally arrived yesterday. I’m in for some fun later.
Anyone here ever run a 1x drivetrain? Considering grabbing a gravel bike with one since it’s only a couple hundo more than the frameset. There are a few of last year’s aspero out there with the gold paint in my size. Also eyeballing the Argon 18 Dark Matter w/ a 1x

Based on the last two weeks with Rango, who's a sweet boy but not a mental powerhouse, I can tell you this is not universally true.
