what tubes?

I am going to go with some new tires probably Continental gator backs or schwalbe marathon either in 700x25 going on a set of Mavic open 4 cd wheels on a mid 90's ritchey road logic. in the old days I always used light weight specialized tubes but that was over 20 years ago. what is a good tube both in value and quality thanks.

I've become a big fan of Schwalbe tubes. Just make sure the valve core is screwed in snug, like you should with any tube, really.

My preferred tube is Michelin, standard weight tube. Overall, the quality is great and a big plus is the Presta valve stems are smooth (ie not threaded).

2nd for Michelin, plus they have smooth stems, i.e. not threaded, which work great with my Silca pump. Quality has been great for lots of years.

Third vote for Michelin. Another point in their favor is the very slow pressure loss. Inflating to 90 psi, I see about 7 psi loss in a week (three strokes of my floor pump). I can never understand the people who report needing to pump their tires every day.

Fourth vote for Michelin Airstop A1, has worked great for me over a few years. Unfortunately not available with 60 mm stems for my new 45 mm deep wheels, so I am reluctantly switching to Schwalbe.

Even the Bell inner tubes I get from Walmart or Academy Sports last well past the life of the tire. So it probably doesn't really matter.

I have a Continental tube in the front tire and a Bell in the rear tire. Both have been there for over two years. The Continental loses a tad more air over a few days than the Bell. However that's to be expected since the Continental tube is a thinner and ever so slightly lighter tube.

Probably does not matter to jadmt (OP) who is planning to install in Continental Gatorskin (or Gator Hardshell?) or Schwalbe Marathon.

I also like Michelin Airstop tubes. They don’t seem to lose much air. I can top them off once a week.
