We’re in another brownout. We learned today, thar Belize gets its power from Mexico. We thought we were at the end of the line. Not so.

I was a hero today
At 2 PM we accepted a full price offer on our house which made us happy. Afterwards we went to our new house to clean and I also unclogged the gutters. I also trimmed back a crepe myrtle (look it up) and a maple tree that was very thickly branched.
Now comes the hero part. As I was cleaning the gutter on a ladder*, a baby deer with a body not much larger than Roscoe but with long legs, came running out of the woods of our backyard. It was startled by seeing me and turned and ran off back into the woods. We didn't think too much about it but then I heard it crying and we went to see what was up. It's right hind leg was wedged between 2 shoots of a tree down near the ground. I bent the tree branch back and it was able to scamper away. The Mrs. was there as well and can attest to my heroics. I'm glad it worked because I didn't have any more ideas. I hope it lives a long healthy life.
*falling off of ladders is a leading cause of death/injury for people over 60. I knew this at the outset but it did not deter me. I'm heroic and stupid.
That's all I've got to say about that.

Good work saving the deer. And I've always hated working on ladders. Worked for a house painter briefly which combined my hatred of ladders with my hatred of painting. And I worked even more briefly for a house builder where I spent a day on a ladder. I ain't built for ladders.

it is in southern climate zones 7-9 so some in this thread may not be familiar. I for one never heard of them until i moved to the northwest Atlanta metro area. I find them beautiful but i hear there is much care needed to keep them under control.

MIL just asked to stay at our house a couple nights while Liz and baby are in Amsterdam with family. Guess she had some business in town. I managed to get her out of here by only 10 minutes after our agreed upon time. I had to ask her to stop cleaning and help her pack her items up to make it happen, but hey that's progress.

Aha, a Peaviner posted about it. They're bound for the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railway. So next time you're in Ohio, put on your favourite Pretenders record and go pay em a visit.

Did the SDMBA Archipelago "Arch" ride annual event yesterday. 45 miles, 4,500' elevation, hundreds of riders. I started in the middle (roughly) of the 6:30 to 7:30 AM start window, and it's a non-stop conga line of riders all the way to the finish. Always fun. I found an action shot of me, complete with Hawaiian shirt and lei.

Nuggets-Wolves game 4 was pretty good. Jokic looked good and the Wolves are no joke, 22 year old Edwards had 44.

I have a mid compact (so I think 36t?) and a 30t on the outside of my 12sp Ultegra cassette on the TCR. There are times when I wish I would have one extra click when things are really steep and I don't want to force it so hard. But that's quite seldom so maybe I'm alright.
On my Venge, standard 53/39 and 28t on a Force 22 groupset. Bike's a total POS (as is the gearing) but I only ride it when I am going to be pressing hard on the pedals.

Read what I wrote. I hadn't heard of them until I moved to the Northwest Metro Atlanta area. So that was 13+ years ago. SMH. You're just jealous of my heroics...and my awesome suite of products (shovel, Marigold jacket and seatpost)
