Along with evs, a guy from our solar company came by to do a check on our solar system. All systems good. We’ve over-produced the last three months and just entered the “solar” production season this month in Illinois.

I suspect it is more effective with drivers who have a lot of experience with performance ICE cars, and thus are conditioned to expect certain things when driving hard. They all said it's weird, but it works. I think it's most interesting as a window into the human mind.

The problem I have with step counters is that the phone must be carried, a thing I rarely do when at home, which is almost all the time.

I wouldn't rule out owning one and if I had one I would just enjoy the smooth, quiet power and not want it to make engine noise or "shift gears". I've heard people say they would prefer a manual transmission electric car. Silly, although there is an e-motorcycle with a 4 speed transmission, for some reason.
There are also gas cars with CVT transmissions which have fake shifts, too. People would bring CVT cars into service and complain that it feels like the transmission is "slipping". That's because it is. It was doing that the day you took it home.
I worked at a multi-line dealer where we sold the Eagle Premier. Customers would complain about the lack of horsepower. The things were rated at 110hp, duh. (edit: The 110hp was for the 4 cylinder. The V6 had a whopping 150hp.)The manager would ask them if they drove it before they bought it.

And a 2500 pound car with 130hp can feel zippy to drive around.

we have one car with a CVT - was not looking forward to it but actually not too bad … sorta / kinda … when applying the brakes on a descent it will ‘down shift’ ( instead of just freewheeling )… sorta / kinda … and it has a ‘sport mode’ that reduces the ‘rubber band’ effect … sorta / kinda

i would often scan the JC Whitney catalogs looking at stuff … looking for a ‘bargain’
ordered a no-name air filter element for my dirt bike (Yamaha LT3-MX) … price was right … a week or so later it arrived: a genuine Filtron filter - and with a small tube of Filtron filter oil … JC Whitney for the win !
