My rando bike is a fantastic commuter and light errand machine.
Ain't no way I'm taking it on any appreciably long rides, though. It's heavy and that big bag up front adds a lot of surface area for wind to grab.
Although it's not like I ride long distances anymore - I don't think I've done more than 80 miles at once in the last 3 years.
I'd like to do another 200k. The local-ish group really likes to climb, their April 200k looks like a nice route.

It's some strange terrain here. Boulder Valley can be downright crisp in comparison to other parts of the metro. Then you get into the foothills, and it actually warms up a wee bit. Lyons and Loveland were downright balmy in comparison. I brought my whole cycling wardrobe yesterday... I wear a vest not for warmth as much, but more for the pockets. I refuse to be a typical Rando, and bring a bag big enough to carry enough **** to rebuild a bike, not to mention the four course meal, and again, the whole cycling wardrobe.

We had guests come over for New Years Eve. 24 hours later it felt like I was carrying around weights, accompanied by chills and a scratchy throat.
Took a couple Tylenol and gargled with salt. Today I appear to be holding it off for now as the virus amasses it's forces at the border.
Retreating to bed with plenty of fluids.

I actually rode the route up the backside of Flagstaff a few weeks ago. Some goofy dirt road that dumped us up by the amphitheater. A buddy of mine knows all these backroads up there.

I sense that the military branches are eager to promote their power, both for public display and for recruiting.
I have not had that experience with an A10, but I know what you mean. I used to have a friend who was an A10 pilot in Iraq. He gave me a tour of one when it was passing through Fort Worth some time ago. The armor in them is amazing.

Air shows are why I am in this career path, but my obsession when I was little was with WWII aircraft. Specifically german aircraft. Everyone drools over the P-51 but to me FW-190 was a work of art.

Emergency 24 hour vet yesterday with “younger” dog (aged 12). Severe case of cellulitis in his foot, high fever, $1100 bucks for a blood test, vet visit, gabapentin and antibiotics. Happy new year to me.
It was a nice teachable moment for the girls though. They got to understand how expensive a dog could be and that they shouldn’t get one until they are in a position to drop a car payment on vet bills without it being an undue burden financially.

Two summers back - maybe more? Rango got really sick - couldn't keep food down, then wouldn't eat. On Friday afternoon, of course! Regular vet couldn't see him, so we ended up taking him to the emergency vet. He was there at least 2 days, maybe as many as 4. That was pricey.
Pancreatitis was the diagnosis, but they noticed some little dark lines on his X-ray, which they thought might be wires. We concluded he'd gotten into the dripping pan below the gas grill, which I clean with wire brushes. The bristles break off, fall into the grease pan. Then Rango ingested them, and they worked their way through his stomach wall, maybe? So, now there's an Ex Pen around the grill.
