Headed up to Mt. Laguna in a bit. It's my favorite place to car camp and mountain bike in San Diego. 6,000' in elevation and only an hour from Mission Bay.
The meadows feature mostly calm, smooth single track, punctuated by the odd rock/root garden. Then, there are some pretty sick DH runs in them hills in the background:

Skipping a couple local road events this weekend as well, a circuit race and a criterium. I won the circuit race last year in the 35+ 1-3. I feel sorta bad from a volunteer perspective, but I do enough for the team over the year to make up for it. As a rider and racer, I've really prioritized the fun and MTB events on my limited calendar I guess. My legs aren't even that far off really and I'd still be a competitive racer. No biggie, there's always next season.

Also this Davidson has been up on PHX CL for 27 days now, I might have to fire a $360 offer at it. Asking is $550

Another weird coincidence. I heard this earlier today at Sbux, and just now it shows up in a Will Trent episode I'm watching.

I registered for an easy bike overnight the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend. Insanely expensive for what it is, but I went on one a few years ago and had a good time. The overnight is at a camp with a pool, where you get fed, so need to bring cooking gear. (I'll probably bring a stove and stuff to make my own coffee.) And the event encourages you to bring your own adult beverages:"Feel free to bring additional drinks. We will provide 2 drink tickets per rider for local beer and non-alcoholic seltzers/sodas. Feel free to bring extra drinks to accommodate your needs."

My very first car was a 1973 Olds Cutlass Supreme with a 350 Rocket V-8. Earned a few tickets with that bad boy.

Nine.
On the same stretch of trail where I saw the peccary, today I saw a collared forest falcon. A first. I hear them occasionally. They are rarely seen. Their call is (almost?) exactly the same as the laughing falcon. Now I’m wondering if it was the laughing or the collared forest we heard so frequently in Belize. I have seen the laughing one time also.

I harvested the last of the broccoli before it turned to leather, blanched and froze it. Returning to my roots.
