Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

The one today they changed the msrp first, I suppose to make the "discount" more believable. Like the Cervelo "list" is like $850, on sale for $130.

People do get sucked in to these scams. A guy at work who was not familiar with bicycles, etc. showed me an ad for a mtb he was considering for $80. I tried to tell him it was a $4000 bike but he didn't believe me, I guess because no bicycle could cost that much. He didn't go for it, at least that's what he told me.

I have an old top of the line Kickr from 2016. Screams like a banshee on downhills as opposed to my wife's 2022 Kickr that is quiet. I no longer do Zwift, haven't for years. Too cartoonish for my old man tastes.

I often sense that feeling when climbing on the road.

The server was kinda flummoxed - I mean, most people who eat Taco Bell know what they're getting - "Mexican inspired fast food" is charitable.

Go climb OLH today, and it'll feel much the same.

Last time, I went in for the post op appointment, and that surgeon asked why I was still in the sling... I liked his thoughts better... Either way, I was on the trainer in a couple weeks, as that's when the ribs allowed that activity, and on the bike in a month. I do suggest never breaking ribs on the back side of the torso, as steady sleep is not a thing that's allowed.
Ya, in hindsight, I with I would have asked her about which exercises are ok. Banded leg/glute stuff, body weight squats are ok. I read online that planks are ok. Pushups, pullups, direct core work is not ok.

I'd like to develop a strengthening routine that is light and has some element of upper body exercise.... but if I can't come up with anything on my own research, and clear it by dr (over email), I'll just wait.

Are the conditions still bad on OLH (Old la Honda)? I've been avoiding it until it's truly dry, and the road repairs are complete.

Mt. Hamilton had some muddy spots last Wednesday. No problem going uphill, but it demanded extra caution going down.

my methodology from the Brit named Something Hoffman is as follows:
1000 ml water ÷ 17 = 59 grams of coffee . Seems to work.

I didn't bring my triple beam up here with me so I'm without a proper mass measuring device, thus I'm just going with two heaping scoops for now.

Might try 3 level scoops tomorrow, see how that goes.

Not in the mood. I don't wanna get the Lemond muddy and I don't wanna ride that much pavement on the fatbike, also there's a gnarly, rocky downhill on that route which would be way nicer on MTB or fatbike. Maybe I'll work out a loop that's more like 20% paved and ride that on the fatbike sometime.
