Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Yeah that's a problem with a lot of old towns here, including the one I work in (West Chester) the roots from trees make the sidewalks uneven.

She might like Pitt better, it is a larger city than Lancaster and has more of a "midwest" vibe to it. But their weather is suckier.

What a lovely way to start a Monday. I pride myself about running on time. My first patient was scheduled at 8AM. By 8:30 we figured that the patient was not coming in. Turns out he was there all along and a snafu at the front desk prevented him from "showing up" in the system. So now I am going to be 30 minutes behind just to start.

edit: now my front desk tells me he came in 25 minutes late. Everyone has a different angle on this.
double edit: turns out the patient WAS on time and the front desk person did not realize system did not acknowlege.

This is always fun to look at, but I honestly wonder how much the wind-tunnel information translates out into real-world road conditions with lots of changes in wind and turbulence etc. that cannot be replicated in the tunnel. Even the rider's dynamics of leg motion and subtle side-to-side movement of the bike may render this wind tunnel data to be less useful.

Of course I did. I also said thanks for waiting. He seemed to be ok with that.

that was un, thanks or sharing. I enjoyed the Pachelbel's Canon in the middle. My mom would play that a lot as I was growing up. And your son sounds good!

For some reason I have this Vaughn Williams in my head now. I'm trying to rationalize or link it to t2p's vid but I'm not connecting the dots lol. Popped in my head while I was listening to it.

You may remember it from "Master and Commander". The main melody starts around 1:45 in this vid and man it just hits

I consider it for entertainment value only. I'm not going to notice any difference (other than a significant weight difference) in my rides at all. Frankly, I'm more interested in how cool the graphics are!

Another live band last night, this time at the house behind my neighbor. It was very windy and chilly but these guys were undaunted. They were so loud it was incredible. What they lacked in musicianship they made up for with volume. Bass and bass drums, same beat and bass line nearly every song. And tuba, omg. 1 or 2 notes from the tuba over and over ad nauseum.
I tried to go to sleep at 11:00 and I put earplugs in and covered my head with pillows to no avail. That bass and thumping drum gets through anything. Around midnight I realized it had stopped.

True. Even the last house where I lived for 16 years was quiet. In the hills outside city limits, it had issues. But never a band or loud party or fireworks, ever.

Nothing special about the arrangement. Just a few tunes mixed together.
