Singlespeed & Fixed Gear"I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five.
Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)
I looked up more photos on Pedal Consumption and it looks messy. Trips me out that they would do such minimal brazing since we usually see nice big fillets that are also ground down for smooth seamless transitions.
I'm not well educated on the subject, but it's so minimal I wonder about strength. The slag really turns me off too.

The big fillets are largely cosmetic. You can use much smaller fillets, especially if you are careful to build up an internal fillet as well.

The standard is a fillet the is roughly three times the wall thickness. So yes, that fillet should be plenty strong. It's really no different than a TIG bead.

At first I thought it was an aftermarket harmonic balancer for a Chevy small block. I was looking for timing marks.

To each their own I guess. I really like the Vinyl chainrings by Alter. I appreciate the cosmetic & artsy effect of it mimicking vinyl records, and they can look good on certain frames, IMO. But I will probably never have one on my bike.

My neighbor on Long Island had a Koi pond, paid several hundred dollars each for the fish.
One night a racoon ate them.
After that happened to my dad's pond, he got some "feeder" goldfish from the fish store for a buck a dozen, they began to breed, and he always had nice fish in his pond after that.
