"1987 Trek 330 Elance road bike. Bought new by my stepfather in 1987 and he rode it for a whopping 9 miles before storing it in his basement. I was given it last year. I took it to the Trek store in Madison, WI and had them do their 200.00 ultrasonic cleaning/ tuneup. The whole bike is taken apart and ultrasonically cleaned, fame polished wheels trued, everything re-greased...ect. I also had them put on new cables and cable housing as well as bar tape. Originally the cable housing and bar tape were white. New tires and tubes were intsalled. Total cost was a little over 300.00. . It recieved a couple paint nicks in storage over the years and I had trek touch them up with a perfectly matched color, you dont even notice them. It looks amazing , the paint shines like new. I put 13 miles on it before I decided its just a little big for me. I did buy a new Selle Italia seat for 144.00 , I stupidly did not save the old seat, mostly because seats have come so far over the years that I would have never used the original, everything else however is original except tires, tape and cables. Shipping 65.00 in Continental USA only. Feel free to ask any questions, thanks for looking. This is also for sale locally so I reserve the right to end the auction early. Standover height is a little over 31". toptube c-c is 22 "and the seat tube c-c is 21.5 "."

Anybody remember this from page 346?
The seller closed his CL ad and put the bike on eBay....
Long story short...I now own the Trek. Pick it up tomorrow.
I hope that $200.00 ultrasonic cleaning/ tuneup looks as good as it sounds.

I think you got a good deal, even if it isn't pristine. If it is nice as he says (and looks from the pictures) then you did quite well for a keeper.

That bianchi looks to be about my size. Wouldnt that be a nice score. No where near me though.....but i can dream. Ive been hunting for a few years for somthing about this size....and vintage. I cant tell if it has 650 or 700c wheels though. Not too much detail in the ad.

The Bianchi is 700c, it's the Quintana Roo that would have the 650's.

hmm...i emailed the on the bianchi. He has no idea of frame size. Hopefully he will send me the measurements. That said....it is still way to far away. IM in MN

Update: he emailed me back saying he has gotten many responses and will email me if it doesnt sell. To me this doesnt make sense considering he is trying to sell it or it wouldnt be on craigs in the first place. Weird...

Some 555 is probably Reynolds (the RSL variant). The 555SL bikes are probably not all Reynolds, though some could be. The likelihood is very high that a lot of 555 was from Japan, otherwise there would be no point in calling it "Raleigh" rather than "Reynolds" tubing.

this bike is the nice purple with the carbon fiber frame tubes , zx carbon series model 2100 , really nice frame design .has a 22.5 inch frame withan approx 31 inch stand over top tube height. matrix 700c wheels presta valves, shimano rsx components with the shifters at the brake levers not on the frame. ths bike is in great shape and has been sitting for a long time . i am missing the seat and post and the shoes that went with the pedals, i cannot find them , but easily replaceable . this bike will not take much to be riding , some minor cleaning some air and of coarse the seat and post. steal this older trek for 175.00 sorry no pictures .

Eddy Merckx - original - $300 (South Portland, Maine)

Date: 2011-02-19, 3:30PM EST
Reply to: sale-7e9yn-2223510561@craigslist.org [Errors when replying to ads?]

Custom built Eddy Merckx Steel frame and fork. It was purchased and built up in Holland at the largest Eddy Merckx dealership in 1995.
It measures 52 cm across the top tube. It comes with a square tapered bottom bracket, chrome fork, and TTT headset. The gel coat is damaged, however the underlying paint job is not.
It could make one sweet single speed or fixed gear bike. There aren't too many, if any, pearlescent paint jobs, here in the US. It still has a nice steel ride.
