Late '80's (I think) Stump Jumper from a garage sale last summer. I got it for $12. It had been sitting in a garage unused for many years but was ready to ride except for needing tires/tubes. This bike has a special place in my heart because my brother, now deceased, had one just like it that he was pretty proud of back in the day. This is more of a commuter around town for me.

Picked up this '86 or '87 Ross Centaur tonight without knowing what it was. The online pics were terrible, but I was able to notice the downtube shifters and I figured I couldn't really go wrong for $10. It's pretty much complete and original minus a missing front wheel, and the fact that someone rattle canned the pink head tube and seat tube black, attached a rubber rat to the stem, and named it "The Plague Rat" which is painted on the top tube 
Not sure what to do with it really, but I guess I'll think of something!

You should totally keep it as-is, rat and all, and add a 20" front wheel to complete the late-80's / early 90's punk-rebel customization styling. Take good pictures of it and see if you can get a buyer marketing it as a piece of retro punk memorabilia... err, what I meant to say is, $10 was a great price for that.

@sloar Maybe it's just my imagination, but you seem to find way more bikes than anyone else. You even admit it: "Bikes: they change so much I'm tired of updating this."
Elwood doesn't seem like it would be a hotbed of vintage bike enthusiasts. Is there something in the water there? Do strays just follow you home? Do you have a buddy in the scrap metal business? What's your secret?

Going back to my early years of mt. biking and found this Hardrock which is exactly the same model as my first Specialized. piggybacked with it is this Dyno/GT bmx from early 2000 or so.

No photos yet, but picked up a very nice 1997 Trek Y22 mountain bike from Craigslist this afternoon. Excellent original condition, just dirty and greasy. I drooled over these when they were new; couldn't say "no" to this at $50! Seller was just happy to get it out of his garage.

Another $10 pick up
I was offered this bike a few weeks ago, but had to pass due to the asking price, and what it is... Talked to the guy again today though, and he told me to come get it for $10. If nothing else I figured I could probably find enough useful parts out of the deal to make it worth the $10.

I have an older version of the Super Speed, about 1975. I have built it in a few different configurations, including a 3 speed.
My first ten-speed was a Kabuki, back in the 1970s.

1978 Takara 10 Speed with Suntour Power Shifters and V-GT Luxe derailleur. Literally a barn find last night, and for 20 dollars, couldn't walk away from it. The only thing that's not steel is the seat post, and that's not original, so it's not a lightweight.
Really cool orange paint and a nice Sunshine 5345 high flange front hub. Rear is a very old Shimano something, not stock. I just adjusted the cables and derailleurs and it seems ok.
I can't find a model name on it, so it must be a base model?

It appears to be a low end model to me as well, but if it rides good it would make a good commuter.

That's what I thought as well after I saw the photo uploaded, but just took a straight edge to both sides and it looks good. I'm going to try to figure out what model it is, because it does have some nice Suntour components, although everything else is probably lower end. Have to get rid of that foam bar tape now.
