Ivandarken, that was very entertaining. I wish I could write as well as you do.

You guys have it good. I went to every Pawn shop and Thrift store locally to me today trying to find a good deal on a vintage road bike. The only decent bike I found out of the dozen places I stopped was a Koyoto (sp?) with Suntour components. It was in good enough shape, but they wanted $50 for it...

Maybe its the market around here or something but all the bikes I found were fairly expensive, even the dept store ones. Shame.

What's wrong with $50 even if it needs a little work?

Oh nothing I suppose, but I want one of those deals like I read about on here for $10! My goal for today was to get one for $25 or under. I don't really need another bike...but its fun to find good deals!

Cheers to all,

I've just bought something that I had my eyes on since forever.
It's a NOS Mavic bottom bracket that I will install on my favorite frame (french threaded Gitane from the 80's).

This BB is held in place by two lockrings and it's fully adjustable and can be used with any type of bottom bracket lug.

It's also supposed to be very high quality and to last a lifetime. You can rebuild it easily with two standard bearings.

I'm anxious to see how it will hold up on my bike.

Seems to be my Italian summer (hope that didn't curse it). So far: Celeste Campione d'Italia, early 70s Frejus with Campy Nuovo Record, and this one: Recentish Bianchi Campione, tigged steel, Italian made, mix of Campy Veloce and Mirage (9 speed). $275. Figured I'd switch over the group and swap the frame. Hardly ridden, so methinks good buy.

Could we possibly make this into the official C&V motto, and put it on T-Shirts and coffee mugs?

Has the internet given way to this hobby? There are so many of us doing the same thing! I didn't know anyone who did this years ago. In fact, I didn't know anyone who did it recently!
