Last night, buddy said he wanted to start the Mt Hamilton ride today at 7:00 AM. Ugh, so early! Okay, fine.
I get to the parking lot at 7:05, and he's already gone. I get a text at 7:08 "starting up Mt Hamilton Road now". Three miles away, just great!
I rush to get the bike ready, throw on the shoes and helmet, and head out. I make it to the base of Mt Hamilton Road at 7:23, with a 15 minute deficit to make up. Time to chase!
I make the catch at mile 10, but now it's gusting like a big mean blower monster. We continue upwards at a slower pace, gripping the bars tightly. Soon discretion wins the day, and we decide to turn around at Kincaid Rd, 5 miles from the summit. We descend cautiously, with sideways gusts and lots of fallen branches on the road.
Observatory website says gusts to 45 mph. Mt Hamilton is a fickle beast. I'm looking forward to the summer days when the weather and road conditions are boring again.

Big weekend here in Flag. The locals are freaking out and preparing to gird their loins.

Music night at my place tonight. Guitar player brought over a fantastic Cabernet Franc from the Sierra Foothills, funky, rustic, dusty. Only 15 bucks too! What a buy.
