Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

A set of tires, that cost about the same as the other set, instantly save 25-30+/- watts & 10oz. (I trained hard all winter, tons of sweat and pain - didn't gain 30 watts)

Plus, the ride quality is night and day.

I don't know what other bike parts will get you that kind of performance gains for essentially no money.
I'm absolutely not disputing that the tires are better in more than one way (except puncture resistance). I like my Michelin ProRace 4's and have a small stock pile of them. But I just think that for most people, even pretty enthusiastic riders, it's not a big difference, not even noticeable to most and therefore the puncture resistance is all they care about.

I have used all three except I have used the marginally lighter Marathon Green Guards instead of the Plus.

Flats are rare unless I run over a nail or screw.
I have run over glass multiple times without flats.

I like the Schwalbe's the best even though they are heavy and acceleration is noticeably slow.
The ride quality is smooth and sure. Grips well on wet tarmac and I have never kicked out the rear on moist roads.
No flats after a year and about 5K miles. I run Marathon Green Guards 47-622 on my 29er.
