Here I'm working with Sarah on my wheel. She would later drop out with a sore knee. SAG cars were plentiful.

Lots of these.

A feast at the end with home-made food. There was so much food they were asking us to take some home.

First ride in over 2 weeks. Temps hovering around freezing with a light snow falling, I did a 17 km loop by the waterfront. I'd have gone farther but my feet were getting wet and cold.
Guess I got soft sitting on the beach in 85 degrees all last week.

Oh how I wish I could get out on the bike! You may have seen the floods that have affected parts of Cumbria here in the UK. Homes have been flooded and bridges washed away. It has rained (and I mean RAINED) every day for over a month and shows little sign of stopping. I live just 25 miles from the worst affected town of Cockermouth and I think I shall be trading in my cycling clothes for SCUBA equipment! Add the shortness of daylight at this time of year and riding becomes a chore not a pleasure. I need to get out and spin the pedals because I feel sluggush and have little energy. A good bike ride will sort me out but I don't know when that will be. I don't mind the odd rain shower but we have more severe weather warnings tonight so I don't hold out much hope for a ride soon.

Todays weather was terrible. It could not make up it's mind if it wanted to rain or shine, but I gave it a go any way, the temps in the low 70s that was a good thing and a light wind from the NNE & cloudy. I am getting off to a very slow start this month. The weather has been cold and wet.

mmm that looks like Filipino BBQ, serap!!! *edit* I have the post last first so I read down more and you were riding with a Filipino club? Awesome people, always welcoming, and the food is delicious. The Filipino mother-in-law could give Mother Teresa a run for her money, as well as Wolfgang Puck. ....the taking the food home afterward is traditional..... people come to Filipino parties with thier own take away containers or tupperwear,

Th th thirteen chilly miles

Took what may be my last ride of the season today. 13 miles. Icy patches along the path; streets pretty good but there was more wind than I had anticipated. 28 degrees F when I woke up and probably in the 30s while riding. Time to think about a trainer.

I thought I recognized the unique way the BBQ was prepared and yes I agree you go to their parties and you are encouraged to take some food with you.

Yes, the club is called Adobo Velo, named after that style of cooking. There are two Filipino clubs on these rides and our club is always invited. They are the most well supported and fun rides ever. The food is one of the highlights, but the people are so friendly and there are hugs and friendly smiles all day. Next time I will bring containers for take home. There was so much left over it was crazy.
One thing I tried was a curried vegetable dish. It was so delicious but I couldn't compare it to anything, I'd never tasted anything like it.
Oh, yeah, they don't charge for the ride, but will accept donations.

Started a really long Cristmas vacation (back at work on the 18. of januaray). Leaving for the US on monday but till then I can ride as much as I want. Today I did a long slow ride in snow with temps hovering just above freezing. Quite technical at times but great fun. Sure beats spinning classes or indoor trainers for me anyway.

Todays weather was great. The temps in the high 70s to low 80s and sunny that was a good thing the bad thing was the 16/23 mph wind out of the SW. My return trip was 12 miles into that wind.

Last two days I had an hour of daylight so I rode my mtb for it on the MUP. Was so much better than the darn Ellipitical trainer.
The new Deore XT drivetrain works good too. I think I need new tires too if I continue to ride mup's with it too much, looking at Kendra Small Block 8's.

27 miles today, dropped the van off for brake service, took my bike and hopped onto the riverbed as it was very close. 55 degrees, breezy with hi clouds. Took me a while before i could warm up. Rode to the beach. I was unable to ride earlier this week because when the Los Angeles river actually has water in it they lock all the gates.

85 hilly kilometers on my last day in Barbados. They have had 3 cycling deaths there in the last 2 weeks due to traffic incidents. The drivers are courteous but not cautious. With the temperature drop here in Toronto and the 40 knot winds, I look forward to next months trip! In the mean time, I will bundle up and hit the salty roads here.

Yes I rode today, first ride of a hectic week

Functional Ride in the cold!
After a series of days with heavy overcast it was great to see the sun again! It was brilliant, but cold all morning. At three I was able to leave for Thursday’s senior day at Harris Teeter. The temperature had just risen to 40 degrees accompanied by incredible gusts of wind. Not bad on the outbound leg, but a hellacious obstacle on the return trip.

The 6.94 miles was a treat and the first miles I rode all week, but hey, it’s only 15 days until Christmas.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Stats
Weeks miles: 6.94
Months miles: 12.69
Year Since June: 1019.53
Bike: Trek 620 w/commuting and trail gearing and tires

Well ya I kinda got in a ride, still way to much ICE and temps in the teens but it's working it's way up, although I doubt with amount of ICE and snow it will be safe to ride till next week RATS! Sorry only have my "one" good bike so I won't "just throw studded tires on it"! :O Maybe someday when I can afford a "Beater", then I'll feel it's worth "hitting" the ICE, (OUCH, I did that a week or so ago, NOT FUN!) Happy Holidays!!

Had to drive the carpool today (kids to school), so I didn't ride my bike to work.

But it was clear and windless tonight, and my headlight batteries were charged up, so at 9 p.m. I went out at 26 degrees for a 17-mile loop around my town. Beautiful night, almost no traffic, and I was well bundled up against the cold.

Other than my daughter's excellent report card today (), it was the highlight of my day.

hmmm -10C with winds = feels like -19C= -2.2F , accounting for my speed into the wind (30kph) , and I get -30C = -22F.
No wonder my foot was getting cold when I arrived. It'll be warming up over the weekend apparently.
