Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

How do you get that little boogey out that's still left in there after a farmer blow? That sucker drives me nuts.

Thanks for the thread...maybe I can get some answers now.

Two-finger blow with a pressure build-up, then release just the clogged nostril. If that doesn't work, I borrow a training partner's water bottle and dig it out with the nozzle.

While you have a point, I was thinking more of this kind of stuff:

If I remove all the manufacturer's stickers from my bike, how much can I expect the weight savings and improved aerodynamics to improve my TT time? And if I don't get all the stickiness off, will the residual glue attract dirt, making me even slower than before?

I read somewhere that there is this stuff called High Carbon Steel.

If I get a bike made from this will it make me faster than just steel or just carbon?

Is this thread equivalent to "Ask WaterRockets Anything?"

If so, that is a thread I might actually subscribe to.

My hamstring hurts. Is it okay to show up to my club ride on a motor scooter instead of a bicycle?

How do I reduce snot volume? I can't just constantly fire off snot rockets on group rides in good conscience, and it's getting to be a problem.

Are you crazy? That peg is providing a fairing fillling the open space behind the head tube (like a water bottle on the down tube) If you tried to put such a device on a modern bike the UCI would clearly ban it.

Don't give up this retro advantage.

O.K. Maybe I'll drill out the crankarms instead. Those old cranks were too heavy.

Can I dial it up to 400W while riding without my hands on the bars and still drop a Cat 4 racer? Is this possible with a 9.34 mph headwind?

Why isn't my current One Ride-A-Week Program isn't paying off yet?

If I cheat and sneak in a second ride will I blow all the progression tables up and waste the money I've spent on the program so far?

I have a top of the line trek (1.2) and my average speed is 14 mph on my 5 mile ride. My brother, who is a football player, said I'm really fast. Should I race? Oh, I live in Florida.

Would I go faster if I bought a Madone?

You can't reduce the snot volume, but you can make it seem like less by moving to northern Belgium and surrounding yourself with people who are more Flemmish than you are.

And on a related note, I'm considering changing my own Bike Forums user name to Chocolatechipcookieman.
