The bike is a means to an end toward my next fitness goal (a 1hr 40k).... progress toward that turns the pain into absolute bliss.

I figured it was an 09 cause of the wheels. I also figured you'd gotten a good deal from a friend. Didn't figure he was a sailor. I'm getting slow!
Planning on any TT's?

Where's the rear brake ??? No pedals and no back brake !!!
Seriously, very nice. Very nice indeed!!
I like how the brakes are tucked away to improve aerodymanics.
I gotta git me one.....

no pedals, no brakes... crap. I knew there was a reason they were selling this one so cheap!!!
Yes, bought it to do TT's and will do at least the two local ones I know about and Duo or two with my wife as the runner. Plan to go out to the course (Church Creek, MD) fairly regularly to train / test.

According to some in the triathlon community, it is a very inexpensive way to shave some seconds.

Are you considering using a disk wheel ?? I've heard some good things about wheel covers available from Wheelbuilder.com https://www.wheelbuilder.com/store/disc-covers/

first ride / actual photos of my bike... yup, really got one of these!
Took this thing out on an actual road today for the first time to see if the adjustments from the trainer felt ok. Mostly it felt great! Will lower the seat a bit due to bit of an ache in the back of my knee, but was pleasantly surprised how easy it was to spend time on the bars. This aero thing is the phaashizzle.
Rode with a couple of the usual suspects... one on a road bike, one on a tri-bike (converted road bike). It was spooky how easy it was to go into the wind!!! and the aero delta was very apparent with road bike -- we are usually are pretty much equal and he could not even hold my wheel.
On a less positive note, I can see it's going to be a challenge to average 25mph for an hour, but I guess that's the point of having goals. Not to mention... everyone at a TT is going to be on something like this!
The pearl white and carbon look pretty together...
The logos aren't decals, but exposed carbon. Nice touch I thought.
The cockpit bits..
The invisible front brake.. it did seem to stop the bike when the lever was pulled
Skinny aero seat stay bits...
SRAM stuff... my first time with it and it seems to work fine... I've used it for about 30miles so far
