Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Road Signs, Vol. 1

I thought it might be fun to make a photo record of the signs I pass on my various regular rides. I started today with my normal quickie 23-mile jaunt around the neighborhood. Here's a few that I thought might be interesting.

This one is on a big hill and it always gives me a little more inspiration to HTFU.

Not a sign, but here's presumably where they're all buried

I tell you, the Town of Sangerfield gets no respect

I live to the west of this sign

Funny looking critters

If you can pronounce Gary's last name, bonus points for you

No trouble keeping them down on the farm

They were thinking of me when they put up the Tactical Vehicles sign.

Nice thread, great to get a sense of where people ride.

here are a few from Singapore

Not the best place to park a carbon bike:

Beware of unwelcome company:

Not a road sign, anyone fancy a mid-ride snack?:

I didn't see this sign specifically, but I have seen similar signs in Redondo or Hermosa Beach.

I remember a nondescript sign for Bateman Creek in the foothills of the Rockies.
Someone removed the 'e'.
It still cracks me up to think of it.

Next summer I'll have to take a picture of a sign that is posted at a farm I ride by. It says:

Honey
$ 6.00 qt
you pick $3.00
