NOS smoked chrome Benotto ID - Columbus SLX
This absolute beauty came by for a visit today, in it's NOS, two-tone chrome glory.
The owner isn't entirely sure what model it is - neither do I (help appreciated). What I find most interesting about it are the aero fork blades; looks as if the factory came up with a similar design to Columbus MAX, using conventional oval blades.
Frame is also marked as having been made in Italy (thank god - no cracked BB for this baby) - IIRC, only the upper end Benottos were made in Italy by the '80s, correct?

That's a very nice frameset.
I've owned two Benottos. Modelo 2500's.
I really liked the way they rode.
Your Benotto is in much more desirable condition than either of mine.

Sweetness. I love the white detailing between the smoked and regular chrome on the stays.
Do you have to give it back? What are you doing with it in the interim besides cooing and petting?
Awesome.

How is it that the bikes that visit you are all your size?

Wow, that thing is hot. There are two C&V bikes I'm on the lookout for for sentimental reasons: a 80's Benotto and a chromonegro Pinarello Montello. That bike is like an awesome hybrid of both.
Rad. I know you will, but please post pics when it's built.

Ive owned 2 Benotto's, one I know for a fact was a 3000, the other not sure about at all. I like em both, and will always have a soft spot for them as it was my first Campagnolo equipped bicycle.
That one however is fantastic...

It's another zombie thread, but since it been revived, I'll just add that the OP's frame is a Benotto 3500, circa 1985-1987.

I think this will be the first time, I have one equal!!!
I too am looking for information of this Benotto, unfortunately I can not help you even if I have an equal being restored.
They too are looking for information to restore the most of this bike.
Looking good, in fact there is a different thing: The passage of the rear brake cable, in my frame is internal.
Interestingly, many thanks!
