I don't think you will lose significant muscle in just 2 weeks of disuse. However when I broke mine I used the recumbent cycling machines at the gym until my surgery. I was back on my bike on a trainer a few days after the surgery and on the road in about a week. Did the doctors give you any amount of time?
I landed on my shoulder. I had a trajectory toward the ground, and nothing I was going to was going to affect anything.
A year from now the plate is going to drive him nuts.

I feel your pain. I broke mine on May 9. No surgery - expecting to be healed in 6-8 weeks.
What is a real pain as well is all the freakin' road rash that I got from the accident.

When I broke my collar bone as a kid, I was told that it was the most frequently broken bone. I had to wear a harness thingie to keep my shoulders back, in the proper position. It was a pain in the ass, and it hurt like hell to take it off.

You're right. It's a small price to pay though, as just two weeks after surgery I have almost full mobility without pain. Not to mention already riding again
. I'll probably wait to race until mid-July. Wouldn't want to test my luck...

Broke it on April 24th in a race (completely my fault, just lost control of the bars heading into the sprint.) Had surgery on May 5th, and now on the mend.

I can't wait to get back on the bike and it's pretty depressing to see the muscle in my legs slowly vanish from disuse. Thoughts? Comments? Gasps of amazement?

I had recently converted bike to cyclocross bike and I'm new to the 700c x32 tires and stiffness. I was making a tight turn and front wheel slipped from under me. I had no time to re- act. I slammed into the cement hard.
I'm suffering and recovering from road rash both knees, right ankle, both forearms and right shoulder so sore. I was wearing helmet and gloves but what was not cover on my right hand I damaged. My ring finger and pinky skin on knuckle completly gone. It hurts the worse.
And my bike nothing wrong with it except tear on the saddle. I did change out bar tape for more grip just for safety. This is how it is now with new tape and water bottle cage.

Really sorry to hear about the collar bone. If that is your left side we have the same hardware, except they gave you one more screw. I broke mine when a car ran out in front of me and I hit them on my motorcycle going 30-35 MPH. The good news is that the steel plate and screws does not affect my daily activities one bit. Hope you heal fast and get back to ridding.
