Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? I know, I should be posting these in the "what don't you like about my bike" thread, but I'm not that brave yet. Not until I replace or recover my saddle! But here it goes anyway...

So far, I love this bike. It's my first single speed build. Kind of a beater but cost less than $160 and most parts are brand new (from ebay!).

Hate to do it, especially since I was the last post, but I'm digging this thread back up. I think I'm done (sort of) building my bike. At least until I save up a bit and get some 700c wheels.
Since last time I got a Charge Spoon saddle and nice new wrap for the bars.

you know, i've been playing around in my mind with ideas for my bike now that it's getting powdercoated... and if you can really do everything black, like down to the seatrails and chainring bolts, it's freaking awesome.

that said i'm very glad to not have a black bike anymore. i'm ready to bling.

Quick question, not to derail, but is your front rim a non-machined Deep V? How well does it brake if it is? Also, does it being non-machined really effect performance? Does it rub off the black coating?

Now with my new (to me) 700c wheelset. 26c up front and 28c in rear.
Front brake will be coming tomorrow as my old one won't reach the 700 rim.
