Six of us are coming from Grand Junction.

The past two days I rode with the RTR group. Day 1 was 46 miles over the Colorado National Monument.
Day 2 was 100 miles to Delta over the Grand Mesa. What a day. It was cool and rainy. The climb was a lonnnnnggg grind. The descent cold and wet. It was a good simulation of BTC Day 1, 50 miles and then a big climb.

The Grand Mesa demands sacrifices: I was cleaning my bike today. I noticed my rear tire was damaged in two spots on opposite sides of the wheel. It was not flat though. I'm guessing it was from the difficult (for bikes) railroad crossing just outside of Delta. The tracks are inset and the grooves are lined with metal edges. I saw 3 people changing flats just after that crossing.

Stop and say hello to some friends of mine, Don and Vi.

They are operating the Any And All Bike trucks as support to the ride.

Enjoy the tour.

Well, the ride was fantastic, but I didn't manage to meet anyone (that I know of).

It was a great week and I'm sure we passed each other at some point during the week. I thought the ride down through those canyons near the end of the last day was the most fun section of the trip followed shortly by the descent off Wolf Creek Pass!

Windy.....but still great. My two Carson/Tahoe Alta Alpina friends had a great ride too. Looked for you valygirl but missed out saying hi.

Coolest thing.....I met a gal I knew from The Cobbler Climb Shop in Co Spgs 35 years ago....Too Much Fun!

Friday before BTC, I met Hypoxia buddies in Leadville to do the Copper Tri route backwards......

Me on the descent off La Manga.......

My two Alta buddies outside of Pagosa.......

On the way back to Grand Junction we camped at Black Canyon and rode the East Portal Rd on Sunday......definetly a Sierra type climb out.

Monday I took them up through the Colo Monument...always a favorite.

Phew! .....time to act my age and take a couple days off. Another 2 1/2 weeks here in Grand Junction to ride and hike and then back home.

When do they announce next year's route?
