3 or 4 miles per hour!? Whoa dude, where's the fire? Oh yeah, he's stoking it. He's already there...

Good eye. Sharp contrast to the cigar smoking easy rider. This little guy passed me once on the Mt. Vernon trail and dropped me. I could not catch up. That was years ago when I was still 40 something and not that easy to drop. He road a rode bikefor years before going fixed. Dues paid.

Actually it might be single speed freewheel, I'm not sure. The guy can ride though.

I used to see him all over. He would always be heading to DC on the Mt. Vernon Trail when I was heading to Alexandria to work. Then I would see him in DC riding here and there--all over. Glad he's still at it.

Monroe-28th-RI--know it well.

I've never met the guy and I'd never have know how fast he is if he hadn't overtaken me that evening on the MVT many years ago. He doesn't ride in traffic with a reckless style. He probably can get across town faster than most messengers, but you won't see him taking stupid chances. You might not see him at all. A very stealthy rider who flies below the radar.

I happened upon the Grand Opening of the Pennsylvania Ave. bike lanes.

The ambassador, the mayor and a pretty girl rider smiling at me all in the same shot! He shoots, he scores! Well I didn't actually get the ambassador in the frame and the pictures is out of focus. I didn't even know Fenty was in it until I got home and saw the picture on my computer screen.

Another messenger dealing with a big load.

At least the pretty girl was smiling at you.

So, hot enough for you?

Fenty looked a little wobbly on that rent-a-bike. Of course, he's a tri-rider, so maybe that's just his style

You can't see him, but that's his wheel going sideways. I might have busted some moves to get around the entourage including the black SUVs. Then I U-turned and stopped. Was I a security threat? Definitely getting some stink eye from the cop in the high tech helmet. The girl is not smiling anymore either.

Fenty looks scared here. He knows I have a clear shot at him.

That looks kind of like a Smartbike but it's different. Are you sure it's a rental? I haven't seen any like that for rent downtown.

A bit of a drift here: I'm on the Mayor's (of Richmond) webpage! We had a TINY Bike-To-Work day with about 30 people. They mayor led a convoy from a city park to city hall. They mayor is in khaki, and I'm to the right and behind in the yellow shirt. Hey, I know it's me!

Reminds me of when I did the DC Ride of Silence in May. The DC Fox affiliate had news cameras there. I saw the local newscast later and DVR'ed the little piece they did on it, and I was able to pick myself out by my helmet only and the really tall guy I was riding next to.

But, like you said, I know it's me!

Looking good, tulip!

When I mentioned I saw a glimpse of myself on Channel Four's coverage of this event, I should have said I saw my filthy backpack. I don't think my head made in into the shot.

Jim, it's not a Smartbike, wrong color and the wheels are too big. Looks like it has a similar front rack though.

Oops, that was ten days early. Nevermind.

Slightly cooler today, only mid-nineties.

Cutting through a shady park on the hill.

Same place, different day. (Met Branch Trail from under NY Ave.) You can kinda see the heat ripples on the fence in the background.
