Ergon Grips - GC2, GC3, GR2?
Which one should I get? I'm a new rider and just bought a Trek 7.7 FX. My hands do hurt after riding for a bit and found out these Ergon Grips will do the trick but don't know which one to get? What do you guys recommend?

I went with the GC2 (large size) on my 7.7FX. My hands are average, but the small size grip would have been a bit too short. These were just right.
I prefer the aluminum barend rather than the composite or magnesium. For road use, I also feel the shorter barends of the GC2 are ample. Personal choice.
Since I was immediately spending most of my time on the barends, the bars felt too wide. I trimmed 25mm off each end, and the result was much, much better. I also flipped the stem.

I had GC3s on my bike before converting to drop bars and felt more hand pain than with my old grips. If you think your hands are remotely large be sure to get the large size. I have gigantic hands and didn't do that. The grips are on my wife's bike now and she loves them.

It means you take the headset cap off, loosen the stem bolts, and flip the stem upside down. This will result in the stem being much flatter, which helps for some. If you're going to flip your stem don't forget to do remove the handlebars first (obviously).

there is a document about choosing the correct grip according to riding type and also size difference. i heard about it recently

GP-1, so you can put anything else on, or in, the bar. Some of those others will limit what you can add later - like bar ends, or mirrors, or mini drops, or whatever else you dream up. The GP-1s will let you do anything......
I'm leaning towards the GC3

Removed stock grips, replaced with Ergon GP-1's and bar ends. GP-1's allowed for both the mirror and bar ends. So far, new setup feels great!

Good choice Tom - you can even add mini drops of the bolt on variety........ which is why I always recommend the GP-1s. Lots of options still exist with them.
