Post a picture of the paint problem, and let us decide for ourselves. Many of us also work and ride a lot-- and this is a waste of our time without some pictures...

Of course you don't HAVE to post photos, but why not?

Making a kilometer blurry
My Madone did the same thing. Right before the bottom bracket shell busted loose inside the frame because they didn't bond it in there properly.
Luckily it only took me about 10 months to realize I'd bought my last Trek.

Whiners better start walking cuz there ain't gonna be any bikes left.
Or just HTFU and ride. It's a tool, not a priceless work of art.

I've got a '08 Madone, and haven't experienced any cracking paint. Seems older Treks with standard paint don't have these issues either. In other words, the poor paint quality seems to be rather specific to the Project One bike.
Even though the warranty on paint is only one year, the fact that it's cracking on this Project One bike is total bull crap. To say that cracking paint can't be prevented is even further bull crap. I worked in the automotive industry for many years, and I can tell you with certainty that automotive body panels flex WAY more than any carbon fiber bike from Trek does -- and you don't see paint cracking all over the place after only one year on modern-day cars.
The fact of the matter is that Trek isn't using enough flex agent in it's paint (it's not expensive to add) for the Project One bikes, and their choice of poor quality paint is the problem.
To the OP: I know this is no consolation, but a quick google search will reveal a few reputable bicycle painters. Despite the poor quality paint on your Trek, you've still got a high-quality bicycle. Perhaps at some point down the road you could decide to reward your bike with a new paint job?

Most carbon bikes with significant miles I've seen do this to a certain extent where ever it's been bonded. Sorry, but that's the nature of the beast. Ditching a bike company is certainly within the rights of the OP, but it doesn't mean it's necessarily the smart thing to do.

You guys make me feel better about budget building all of my bikes from ebay and craigslist. No warranty and only biting on the deals means I don't give a fart.

I know Cannondale is owned by Dorel.
I don't need numbers to understand Trek does better than Cannondale. The fact that every weekend warrior and Lancehole owns one is obvious when you look at MUP's.
Similarly, you don't need numbers to understand that Honda does better than Chevy. There's many, many more of one than there is of the other.

2. Chevy is owned by the American Government. Nuff said there. Make a $40,000 car that goes 42 miles on a battery when Nissan already has one that goes twice as far and you get the point.
But regarding your first comment, you have no idea what you are talking about. Simply making more bikes (Giant's the largest on the planet and makes 95% of Trek's bikes for them) is not an indication of profitable return for the owners. As a former executive and now a business owner, I'll take fewer sales over greater profit every day of the week.
Take a business class or two.
This might be the most comical thread ever on BF.
