I just linked this story in another thread before I noticed this one.

This should become a great event with the fantastic terrain and the resident cyclist population. Kudos to Quizno's for stepping up as a sponsor. Too bad Coke or some of the other big Atlanta-based companies didn't see fit to do the same to save the Tour de Georgia.

Yes! A 50+ team. "Team Old Farts". Or "Team Colonoscopy". They would have to give us a 4 hour headstart. Maybe waterbottles with Metamucil mixture. Hmmmm. Okay, I'm in.

This is great news. My brother and I drove to CO to see the Coors Classic twice, the last one being the year Hinault won with Lemond's support. It was so much fun following the race around the mountains, staking out viewing spots for the road stages, watching the time trial up to Vail Pass, the criterium in Denver, the circuit races around the Morgul-Bismark and Estes Park. What a blast.

The original name of the race was" The Red Zinger"( the tea company),In the 70's... and they had some races in Washington Park in Denver, I was rooting around in the darkroom the other day and found several hundred B/WPictures of those races....Good memories..Bud .

I'd love to be on the 50+ team but I think I have a shuffleboard tournament that week.

Yeah, that's the ticket.

Since the US Postal Service once sponsored a team, maybe we could get Social Security as a sponsor.
