Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Same with the fatties- no self control.
You're not very bright, are you?

There is any amount of research that demonstrates that "will-power" is baloney. People are tested under laboratory conditions, and invited to make a choice while their brain activity is monitored. They press a button when they've chosen. In every case, the brain activity associated with the decision is over seconds before they press the button. In other words, the choice is made before they are aware that they have chosen. They do not consciously choose, they become conscious that they have chosen.

When we make choices we are doing what we want. We are not imposing our "will" on ourselves, we are merely producing conscious explanations, after the fact, for the choices we wanted to make. You give up smoking, or eat less to lose weight, because you want to. Your choice is no more virtuous, or mentally tough, than that of the person who chooses differently. It is just a product of your different desires and responses to stimuli. So don't give me any crap about how strong-minded you are, it doesn't mean a thing.

If you disagree, try this. Do you like strawberries? Try exerting your "will-power" to make yourself stop liking them. Dislike calves liver? use your "will-power" to make yourself like it.

Some yes, human beings are a diverse bunch you know. What I find useless is the name calling and ignoring the causes behind people's poor lifestyle choices since understanding that is what will help people over come it. Now what I think would be a good choice is if you recognize your obvious anger management deficiencies and get some help in that area.

Bah bah bah bah bha!

Being judgmental – This is a very destructive attitude for people in recovery. When we judge a person as being better than or less than, we are setting up a situation where we inflate our egos feeling better than other people. On the other hand if we judge ourselves to be on the short end we can feel bitter and generate low self-esteem. Being judgmental is a low self-esteem generator.

hmm...but even Armstrong is a gurly man because he rides expensive bikes to mask the inferiority complex he got after losing to Contador.

Stupidity should be painful.

Stupid people do stupid things.
Painful consequences will often force them to reexamine their course in life.

Or perhaps you subscribe to the "everyone's a winner, everyone get a blue ribbon, because "winners vs. losers is sooo icky" School of Oprah-thought.

Only if you don't mind following up with sit-ups, a three mile run and some rounds in the ring (gloves optional) afterward....and getting your butt whipped by a 51 year old jughead in an evening gown.
