I can't remember, but I thought she lost to a boy on a pretty big MTB, but looking at that photo, he must have been from the older race that left 15 seconds before her. Maybe she won? Dunno, they didn't track results, as it was just a "fun lap"

Did she run out of gas a little at the end of the 1K attack?

Who knows, maybe the kid has terminal cancer and all he/she wants to do is be a pro bike racer.

I don't think they're 700c wheels. Look like 24", or perhaps 650's.

I like that the optimistic interpretation of this photo involves a small child with a terminal illness.

waterrockets, you know who built that bike.

Yes, it has Di2 with Lightweights. The build came in at about 12 lbs. Very unique and challenging build to say the least.

During the NC Road Race Championships two weeks ago, nearly all the juniors had deep carbon wheels of some sort, while only about half the 50 plus men did and almost none of the women did.

Though, I don't recall any 8 year olds with them. Don't they just ride one lap around the course, if that long?

Some parts on the bike just aren't made lightweight. We could build a regular sized road bike less than 12 lbs, but this was definitely a challenge for a smaller person.

Interesting. I'm terrible remembering people I don't see more than once/week

I'm pretty sure I remember the girl at the Hill Country Kids and Family Tri (from the kit, not the bike), and if she's who I think she is, she runs like a gazelle. Faster than most adults.

You should have had a bigger logo on the bike. Would have made for some good PR considering how far around the internet the picture went today .

I'm wondering if the parents will appear on BF to castigate us for mocking their dear child.
