That is most definitely a Gran Sport. They're by far my favorite vintage Raleighs, aesthetics-wise. I love the light blue! The fact the stickers on this example are still in good shape is a good sign that it's been lightly used or at least treated well for the last 35 years or whatever. Maybe won't have the riding quality of a true high-end Raleigh of the period, but it is double-butted 531. I believe Gran Sports were the lowest in the line-up to have DB 531 throughout, above the Super Course's straight-gauge 531 main tubes. Also, cotterless cranks is a big plus. I say get it for $200.

It's hard to tell but the Brooks still appears to be in nice shape, too.

I'm not actually interested, but perhaps someone here would be. If I bring home another bike, my garage will explode (it holds many, many other things).

Really wish I had the funds for this bike. I sold a Grand Turismo a few months ago and have been longing for another Univega. This looks like a really solid bike too, Tange champion and Arabesque 600 group, sweet. Would be willing to facilitate

Date: 2010-09-12, 8:13PM PDT
Reply to: sale-mww7k-1950833563@craigslist.org [Errors when replying to ads?]

Early 1990s classic hand-made Casati steel road bike frame with Columbus SLX tubing, tuning fork seat stays, and chrome lugs. Comes with Campy Chorus bottom bracket, 172.5 cranks, and Chorus headset (headset is pitted and would need to be repaired). This is a solid frame that is in good but not perfect cosmetic condition.

Super Fast 56 cm 'Cilo' Road Bike - $400 (Central Sq)

Date: 2010-09-13, 9:07AM EDT
Reply to: sale-aumaz-1951139743@craigslist.org [Errors when replying to ads?]

The frame, made in Switzerland, is lugged cro-moly steel with a beautiful chrome fork. It's strong and lightweight with minimal rust and no dents. All components are Shimano 600, great original parts that are known for their durability. It has an 16-speed drive-train with down-tube friction shifters. The cassette was replaced three years ago and shows little wear. The front wheel is an 18-spoke Rolf Vector Comp and the rear is a Shimano. The tires are Specialized Armadillos, which are Kevlar reinforced and extremely durable.

The bike has gone through several repairs in the last year including:
- A tune-up and thorough cleaning
- New brake cables and housing
- New brake pads
- New Teflon coated gear cables
- New Chain
- New cork handlebar wrap

Overall the bike is in excellent condition. I am only selling it because I am 6'2” and it is really best suited for a rider around 5'10”. If you would like to schedule a test ride, email me with your availability. I'm located off Western Ave. in Cambridge, about a 10 minute walk from Central Sq. on the red line.

If you are reading this post then the bike is still available.

Reply to: sale-85gem-1950963817@craigslist.org [Errors when replying to ads?]

Rare Italian Bianchi X4 road bike up for sale. bike has been in storage for over 20 years. last rode in 1988-89 i believe. bike is in "used" condition and is currently not ride-able. has flat tires, and a bad chain. does show a fair amount of wear. extremely lightweight, can be picked up with just two fingers.

paint is hazed, cracked and chipped all over showing that it is fully chromed underneath the paint. decals are peeling off and cracked. so it would need a restoration. no rust at all.

bike is being sold AS IS.

engraved and embossed in all of the "correct" places.

48 or 49 cm Columbus SLX frame. (see photo).

Dura-Ace brakes, cranks, shifters, and de-railer.

Flite titanium seat.

Shimano pedals.

Cinelli handlebars.

Suntour brake levers.

Campagnolo rims with Vittoria tires. comes with an extra set of rims with tires, also flat.

stand over height (over the top tube) : 29 1/2 inches, or 75 cm

top tube length: 50 cm

seat tube height: 49 cm

chain stay length : 40 cm

more photos are available upon request.

SERIOUS INQUIRIES ONLY PLEASE.

yes it is. it is the one I was whining about that I had a deal for and it seemed some BFer told the seller "the frame alone is worth over a $1000" it was actually relisted yesterday. the origianl was BIN $1K and a start of $799.

OMG!! I am such a blonde at times. on the full frame pic it looked like the 'hanger' was on the left stay. then I just did not look close enough at the closeup to figure it out. the biddin is $1200+ right now. if anyone here is bidding I have delt with that seller and they are great!

Rare, tiny, abused. Save it! 800 is too much for this set of parts IMO.
