Campagnolo Ciscato
Does anybody have the tech specs and the date of production for a Campagnolo Ciscato road bicycle? I acquired one and I am trying to rebuild it to make it road worthy. Not even Campagnolo International has any information on this model. Your help is appreciated fellow Campys! Thanks... MDS

Campagnolo never made a bicycle. Your bike may have a Campagnolo decal on it, but only the parts would be Campagnolo. Is your frame bonded aluminum? Alan's were re-branded as Ciscato as well as other brands. Maybe that's what you have. If you can post some photos that would help.

nice looking bike. is the crankset Campi too or something like GIPME or Ofmega? the derailleurs look like 980 gear Campis basic group in the mid '80s

Well, it's not a re-badged Alan. Looks like the basic mid-level Italian steel frame from the early 80's. Something that would have been built at a production shop and branded for a retailer. The parts are a bit of a mish-mash, and low price point. Are the brakes marked? Ballia perhaps?
The frame is most likely tre-tubi and is probably pretty decent. You might want to try and pick up some early 80's Nuovo Record parts to build it up with. Would most likely be a good rider.

Looked for markings and found none. I am assuming light steel. As You guessed, there is mismatch of components. The crankset is Ofmega, the derailleurs are Campy and the braking system is Universal. The frame is in excellent shape and worth rebuilding. Do you recommend the Nuovo Record group set for this type of bike? Thanks.

where is this bike, in the states? I agree with Ragooch. maybe a midlevel Chromoly frame. assuming the bike being set up for recessed brake bolts is from the factory, and the GipMe horizontal dropouts it must be prett decent frame.
the Campi 980 gear was just shifters and derailleurs so I knew the crank was something else and the logo did not look Campi
PS just read you 11:21 post. I would really clean it up nice and try and polish up the frame with some turtle wax. then put the parts back on and put a set of wheels under her (nothing fancy check you local shop maybe you can score some used wheels) and see how she fits and rides. if you like it then start a upgrade processes

BianchiGirll, The bike is located in Ft Benning, GA. It originally came from Italy (we got it from a retired servicemember). We really want to rebuild this bike to a decent state. Do you have a website so we can take over this project? and what parts do you recommend?

At the very least you've got to change those brake levers. The turkey-wing/suicide style just seems wrong on an Italian frame with downtube shifters. Try Nevr-Dull on the fork, chromed stay, and on the components to polish them up some. You can find it at auto supply stores and maybe Wal-Mart.

Given the 980 rear mechanism is OEM, I'd be suprised if it was a tretubi (SL) frameset. Aelle, Zeta or a tretubi version of them would be more likely. The OP should verify the seat post diameter, which should be stamped somewhere on it.
