Wondering About The Weak Link

I noticed that he asked for a permanent ban.

I knew he had differences with...how things are run here.

Can anyone shed any light on this? I already miss him.

What? Say it isn't so!

I disagreed with him all the time, but he was the most interesting person on this board.

I'll miss him, too.

I hope it's not because I started hanging around again. But, we all make our own choices whatever our reasons.
I always liked the guy's humor and I'll miss that. But, once you become a political harpy... well, I won't miss that.

I doubt it... he's been out of it for longer than that.

I always thought he was a little off the wall but I enjoyed his comments, maybe that makes me a little off the wall as well. He just did it kinda his way and I like that.

For me BF was improved by The Weak Link and reduced by his absence.

I probably just missed the post on this, but pls. advise: Why would anyone ask for a permanent ban? Sorry, I don't get it.

*Asking* to be banned seems kinda weird. I mean, why not just go away for a while and make it permanent if it agrees with you?

I enjoyed his occasional quips, too. I thought some of them were insightful.

Some people ask to be banned so they can work on some project and not be distracted by Bike Forums.

I have waited to say anything but I can not see why anyone needs to be banned. I mean just don't log on. What no self control?

Maybe it's like a dieter asking someone to put a lock on the fridge and keep the key. Seems odd to me too.

I guess there have been others who have asked for temporary or permanent bans.

I have only had time to pop back in occasionally, to come back to this is bad news. Nothing in life is permanent (not even bans) except death, I hope reincarnation is in his future.

If you permanently ban yourself, do you have to be reincarnated under a new name if you ever come back? If you can be "un-banned" then the ban would not have been permanent. I do hope TWL makes it back into the fold. I always enjoyed reading about his epic ride failures and the food he consumed in retaliation.

I've thought about asking for one myself. Maybe then I can get some work done!

TWL did have a high post count over his few years here and who knows what other sites he frequented.
I myself have wondered about this, I have been participating for almost 4 years and have over 3000 posts, that to me seems high. Maybe I should start the 12 steps to being internet free - /not.

Most of us have grown or nearly grown children, but TWL did start a young family recently with a newly adopted daughter. Between that and work, his time would be at a premium, and BF can eat up more than you can spare. Sure, he may have requested the ban to control his urge to play with his friends. Whether that's true or not, I feel for him: he enjoyed this place immensely.

I hope he keeps on riding.

It is hard to make your self stay away from BF. When I was so sick last year I went crazy until I got home and logged back on. It is a difficult habit to break. I really miss TWL here. He made the place good and king of loose at times. He probably has a real premium on his time now, as Bare Feet said, with his obligations to his family. I am sure he is in good standing with the Administration and moderators and could return when he asks, if desired. Here's to hoping he does come back when it is the right time for him and does lurk some so he sees we do care a lot for him.

Rare, not unique. There are a couple of other Conservatives here on Bike Forums.
