I'm 62 and riding Sukispop's old 2001 GS GTO. I also own a 2003 WW 3.4. The GTO got most of my riding time last year, 4,884 out of 5,665 miles. My suggestion is to buy the best you can afford. You will not regret it.

Antique trike rider
I'm 87 years young and drive around on a Catrike rocket. Best bike I ever owned. Will be in the Raleigh senior games next month riding a 10k race on my two wheel recumbent (Sand Point).

I am 17 and have ridden two 24 hour competitions (not by myself) on a school-built custom trike, and I'm getting a trike myself from a 15yr old guy who builds them. The guy who said they ride like go-karts is right. They are very fun to ride, and also very stable obviously depending on which design. Our trike we raced was bombproof (until that guy flipped it), but hey your wifes not gonna be racing it around 130 degree turns.
Good luck.
Good luck.

trike riders age
since my balance went in the toilet 4 years ago i knew my days of riding a diamond frame were numbered. since you asked for trikers age i will be 57 april 2011. when you are riding a tricycle it is not what you rode when you were 3 years old. what did surprised me that anyone who is not a cyclist had no idea what a recumbent tadpole trike looked like, whatever they were imagining did not match what a greenspeed gto actually looks like whe they saw mine.

I'm 26 and my wife is... some other age, and we love our tandem/single trike combo. It's a blast. We use it to get around town to visit friends and on longer camping trips out of town (both originating from home and destination locations.) We've had it for over a year now and we still feel like it's the best money we've ever spent. It's gotten my wife into cycling in a way that begging and cajoling hasn't for years.

I'm 56 and riding an Actionbent T1. It is electrified with a rear Nine-Continent hub motor, and a 48V 15Ahr Ping lithium battery. I can cruise nicely just under thirty miles per hour, and regularly do longer rides up to seventy miles running two packs in parallel. With Westmarine waterproof stereo speakers running off the pack 50W per channel and a small ebike amplifier. Awesome fun.

58 years old, rode a delta trike from 1980 at 28 years old. Now 2 tadpoles: Different horses/different courses: stock Catrike Pocket, and formerly a velomobile kit since new- now stripped down trike. Still has the good mechanical parts but it was a low-cost EZ-Tad. Still in my avatar from last year.

51 and just ordered a Terratrike Tour. Waiting for it to be shipped to me.
Had to stop riding bikes because of neck problems and inner ear-balance problems which would cause me to veer at times, not good on narrow shoulders, but I was unhappy at not being able to ride at all. It's a lot of $$ for me to spend, but I need to get back to riding for my health!

67 and have a 99 year old back with more titanium in it than in my V3Ti!
My next bike will be a trike, parltly because they look interesting, and partly because they are so darned comfortable!

I'm 48 and am just starting back in to cycling from a 12 year break after nerve damage in my arms. Can't ride a road bike anymore so I just purchased a TerraTrike Cruiser. It fits me well, is comfortable and a good ride. I won't will any speed races with it but it's stable and will do great for my commute. I also highly recommend The Bicycle Man in Alfred Station, NY. Lots of happy people there trying bikes, knowledgeable people fitting those of us with disabilities, major and minor. Lots of us are back to cycling thanks to recumbents. It's great!
