2 hours of Zone 2 goodness today. I spent a good part of it on the local rail trail. And don't give me **** about riding a MUP because I have seen lots of Pros including some that will be riding TdCalifornia this year as well as all the local Cat 1s on it when they are doing easy days. I was doing a "chill" ride so I was not a bad citizen of the MUP. No kids on training wheels were taken to the ditch. When I want to go fast I "do it in the road" ($1 to John Lennon).
Tomorrow's team ride is at 9 am. I know that I will be watching somebody's Internet feed of Flanders when it is time to go. It will be hard to get up and leave.

105 miles, 4000kcals exact, 402TSS, 6+ hours of riding. Great day for a long base ride in the spring. I don't really feel that exhausted right now, which is nice.
60 miles in, my left knee started hurting and it was doubtful if i could make it back on my bike. Thank goodness things worked out.
Gonna be lazy tomorrow: get up, buy a Belgian ale, and watch de Ronde van Vlaanderen

Weather/roads were actually nice enough I rode on my road bike - I forgot how much faster slicks are than knobbies. I'm still in my FTP-raising mode, but also needed to get some VO2 Max work in, so I copped this "threshold" workout from Coggan & Allen: 2x20 sweet-spot with 20s bursts every 2m; then 2x5 at 115%; then finished out with as much Tempo as I could muster after that.
Total of 219 TSS, which is a bit high for my level of fitness. Gonna just rest tomorrow.

It's like a normal zone 2/3 ride with about 8-10 sprints that are not intense. it was generally in the 28-34 mph zone so you get your legs working, but theres still about two or three more levels of intensity. Form sprints is just the name my coach gave to the workout.

2 hours in the rain and a hail storm while riding through flooded roads. I enjoyed it though -- it was a crazy week of work, and this was my first time on the bike in a week, so I didn't care about the conditions. Fortunately it was a rest week, so I'm not far behind where I should be. I start my first build period of the year next week.

Club/Team Ride this morning
2 1/2 easy-ish hours (43 miles) for me today, no hail or rain though...just Sun. This was a good wrap up to a 300+ mile / 19,000 ft week on the bike...tomorrow is a rest day. Next race is Saturday.

Anyway, your legs appear to be in good order!
My stats were something like 260 TSS, 4:45 or so, my legs are feeling it.

I just bought the book Base Building for Cyclists. I've gotten through the first two chapters so far and I'm totally fascinated! Makes we want to go back to base now, and do a 4 month base next season

Progress report...
Sharp pain is gone, dull ache when bending knee past a certain point, though that also seems to be subsiding. Feels like everything is readjusting and rearranging inside the joint. Did not ride today, will try again on the morrow.

had an ok week... having trouble finding the discipline to get my HR to Zone 5 indoors for climbing
got out for 93 km today.... rode to the ride through a head wind... then rode 56 km at a hard pace for me and then rode home with another head wind
had a nap and I'm' rocking the compression tights

Rode a little this morning, came home and watched Flanders on the Internet (Eurosport feed), did 4 hours of yard work, then went out for a 1.5 hour ride. Now my lower back hurts. I blame the yard work.

Rode the new 38mm tubulars, first glue job, and pre-rode the crit course for next week. Learned a lot and have a couple strategies. Now just keep training and hope that one of those strategies becomes a reality. GL

Finally got out to do some climbing. All my normal training partners are in Hawaii playing triathlete, so I was on my own. Did a few of the south end climbs around Cougar Mountain and the upper eastside. Nothing spectacular, but good to get back to hill work outside. 46 miles, 3k ft. gain. 238 TSS. Got a bunch more best critical power segments, which always makes me happy.

ZCI's today. Went a little too hard on the first one, but then settled down. I think it might be time to retest.

Slowly getting there
Did my longest ride to date at 43 miles feeling quite please with myself having only recently started cycling coming from a running background. Managed to get out three time last week for a total of 85 miles. I think I will have to join a club for old timers and get serious about this cycling lark!!!

Went on two pretty hard rides this weekend. OVer 100k on both Saturday and Sunday. Saturday I was tagging along with some of the fast guys from our team (S1's and S2's) and it was spectacularly hard (for me). They were all really cool though and gave me lots of pointers and encouragement. Sunday I went on the big local group ride (Donut) and managed to keep up despite my legs being like bricks from the day before.
