Odd: so sudden- no BROL!
Might just be my computer; but all I get is this:
Database error
The database has encountered a problem.
I never had such a quick notice- usually a little wheel turns for a minute, then I get: we tried..... but.....
Am I the only one this happened to?

A database error messge usually indicates something wrong at their end. I was just at the site, so maybe Bryan was just rebooting the server or something.

I think that whatever happened yesterday must have happened again - only worse. I get no response at all now. Bryan said something about getting work done on the home page - I wonder if the contractor really screwed it up.

Bryan's been talking about a number of software upgrades, so it may just be system reboots and reconfigs (I remember updating from an earlier version of Joomla to current and it took about 3 hours to get everything straightened out on what was supposed to be just a 'simple' update).
On the other hand, maybe the great DF anti-recumbent conspiratorial forces hacked the site.

Was on it for a short time, then, I too got the error message, tried both Google Chrome and IE-8, same thing so I guess their down for some reason, FYI.

I suppose you haven't been clicking on the "Announcement" alerts Bryan had posted. They said the site would be down for server upgrades.
(Funny, in that I was getting "Database Error" messages for this (bikeforums.net) site this morning.)

I saw the notice about the upgrades but have no time frame given. Best to give it 12 hrs or so and then try again. Can be frustrating but go ride or use the trainer to keep the frustration in check.

The suddenness surprised me that first time; usually computers 'search' for a while. This morning it failed to find a link the right way: 30 seconds then "sorry". If it is just my computer; I will not worry. BROL is on now - so I guess the hammer worked!

Here is it a month later and I haven't been able to get on BROL all day.

Same here.
Both www.bentrideronline.com and bentrideronline.com are directed to the expected 72.44.94.146 and answering pings but there's no response on any of the usual http ports.

It worked fine for me just now. Judging by the Shoutbox traffic things are still a little cattywumpus: https://www.bentrideronline.com/messa...php?do=archive

I was riding over toward Detroit all day, and not knowing any better I got right on BROL when I got home. It must be better now.

Grr... after being down for most of yesterday, supposedly due to migration to a 'shiny new server,' it just went down again this morning.

Web Site Issues
Posted on April 12, 2011 by Bryan Ball
We are aware of the numerous web site issues that we’ve had over the last few days. We are switching to a new web host and that will fix everything. That will be complete by the end of the week. There may be some periods of downtime during the transition. Thank you for your patience.

Get prepared for yet another of Bryan's "can't afford the rent, can you send me some cash" emails, then.
I don't visit there much anymore, especially after I started getting obscenity-laced hate mail from one of that site's users. I was able to trace it back to the source, and the emails have since stopped, but the user base there has really changed since I first saw it.
These days it looks to be little more than a hangout for newly-retired Boomers riding their trikes on the MUP, and with wayy too much time on their hands.
