Porteur parisien
hello
I'm mad about porteur ,why? Cause that's was a "non style" when I start working in a bicycle shop , vintage bike was for export (understand Japan) 20 years ago, but I always loved those bike because of the striping that was made by hand and look so wird in the flashy fashion of the mtb of the early 90" I ride porteur bike for diferents reasons but the first is that a costerbrake in Paris is the perfect solution, the front rack I use was made for/by Singer and can carry udge load it's perfect to carry food for a family from the open market , I like the "coupe jambon" (chainguard) witch keep you away from grease and water just like the streamline mudguard, when I say streamline I dont compare with vintage American Bike ,the porteur look like a schwin just like some french 50" car who was inspired by US car and look pretty strange ...
this one was too rusted to be ride in is original shape,it was a Lapierre build in Dijon in the 80" the I stripe down to baremetal and trow to the garbage all and everything except frame, chainguard and handelbar the whells was unusable the mudguard was the ugly Uginox (square+ inox= beurk!) sadle made of cheap plastic short stem from pivot etc etc....
In the 90" mtb there is a paint sheme that really impresse me that was the Breezeer the queue de billard really appel me then I discover it was a classic paint sheme mostly used by the italian frame builder of the 50" for there race bike so lets go monkey see monkey do
I paint the bike with spray piant for two reason I use to paint a lot with spray can and I love it, I dont have the oportunity to use a real "paint shop",it's cheap and if it's well done it get old just the way I like it, with scratchs and rust
less take more pictures...
is father just after he died of a down tube crisis
the frame just paint
the build up down in my cave...
first pictures with the fender just "put"
and today it have to carry the plaster for my future shop that I will open in the beginig of may
some other view from the outside after a good day of work
philippe stem and head set dont like plaster....
my first ride with it last may for the berret & baguette Ride the copilot is Lina my older daughter
et voila!

great looking bike. I had a bit of trouble figuring out how you got three people on it

I love the seat mounted on the toptube! Does anyone manufacture those anymore?
Also, I thought it entirely apropos that you'd use your Porteur to carry 'Plaster of Paris' around Paris. Fantastic photos and story, Nicolas.

Looks great!
I LOVE the contrast between the fresh (retro) paint and the used fenders, saddle, bar/stem and rack. LOVE IT!!
Also, Nicolas is my youngest sons name so I am rooting for you!

Very cool!
I love utilitarian bikes. The pictures make me want to go get my Porteur build finished up (but I'm not giving up my Derailleurs LOL) !

Nicolas, A nice restoration to a nice bike. It's a reminder of a time when trades people in urban areas used bikes and trikes in their work.

I just noticed one thing that hopefully you should have fixed by now. You have no plugs in the ends of the handle bars. You should put something like a cork in there to avoid making nasty holes in yourself if you ever have an accident.

@gnome your right! I will put cap on the handelbar before I get hurt
@bradx it's the support for the baby carrier that goes on the back the interset is that I can leave the carrier with the baby at her nanny's house and my wife can pick up the baby and put the carrier on is own bike with the same system
thank's for your questions and comments!
