The 28th I'm doing the CRAM century with my wife.
tmass, all of the guys from the LBS are shutting down and heading to the tour de Nash. They tried to get the wife and I to go with them but we'd have to find someone to watch the kids and honestly, there aren't many here I trust with my kids.

Harpeth is a great ride. Well attended and great support!
Is Hopkinsville a better ride than the Tour de Nash? I haven't done either one.

I haven't ridden the Hopkinsville ride but the tour de Nash is an usual ride because it's riding through urban areas and greenways. One part takes u through a parking garage. It's usually well supported; it was cancelled last year because of the floods.

It's not everyone's mug of beer but it's about 40 % greenway the rest thru a major metro area. Most rides I do are out in the rual areas with occasional small town. This is just a change up to the usual. The route this year is on mapmyride and at the tour de Nash web site.

I was thinking about doing the Harpeth River Ride. How is it? Seems like the ride can be confusing with some of the different routes splitting off, then merging back together.

The HRR was sort of confusing last year, it was a new route and I think Nissan dictated the start/finish location which was not optimal for getting out to the nicer roads. I think it will be a slightly different route this year but same start/finish. There is lots of on route support so I don't think anyone could go too far astray. It will be hot. The Hopkinsville ride was very nice when I did it a few years ago.

Even though I've lived on FT Campbell for the last 3 years I've always missed the Hopkinsville ride, and have never done the Tour de Nash or the Harpeth River ride.
I'm hoping the rain (expected for the coming weekend) holds off. I've ridden most of the roads West and South of Hopkinsville that are included in the 60 miler and it should be pretty flat - the century a little more hilly.
The CRAM next weekend (28 MAY) is a flat fast ride and always fun.
I'd love to do the Harpeth, but Franklin is quite the drive from me. I love the roads around there though having done a Wounded Warrior ride last year.
Did you guys get in on the Gran Fondo bike shop's Gran Fondo last Fall in Fly TN?

I'm involved
I'm involved with both the Tour de Nash and the Harpeth River Ride. I'm going out to paint arrows tonight.
TdN is put on by Walk/Bike Nashville, the ONLY 501c3 group dedicated to bike/ped advocacy in Middle Tennessee. This is the signature annual event, and is an important fund raiser to keep their programs and campaigns running. Yes, last year was flooded out and losing deposits was a serious financial hit on the organization. This is a resurrection year. That should be a good enough reason to go ride it. But, it's also a great ride, well supported and does demonstrate to riders ways to get around town by bike.
HRR is put on by Harpeth Bike Club. Yes, it's a rural ride, and yes, Nissan is the signature sponsor. Many of the funds go to support advocacy groups like Walk/Bike Nashville, Bike Walk Tennessee. Plus HBC is a big supporter of TNABA - blind athletes. Blind (on tandems) and handicapped athletes will lead the ride out same as last year. It's a great ride.
Enough for now. I'm off to paint arrows.
