I've had a set for about 3 months now. Originally, I was not using them for training rides, but just races. Now I love them so much, I've taken off the schwalbe tires and put my gatorskins on them and just leave them on the bike. Best wheels I've ever had. Period.
.... have you bought yours yet? Whatcha waitin' for?

I was trying to choose between these and zipp 404 ccs, so I'm glad this thread is here. I was told that one of the downsides is the exalith braking surface in that it squeals under hard braking, and that it is hard on regular brake pads, which I guess is why there are special pads just for these wheels. Was told these would brake much better than the zipps. I was told no issues with reliability or safety with the 404 ccs so far, and that they were lighter, more aero. As of now, I'm leaning towards the 404s. Anyone have thoughts on this matter? I agree that the Mavic CC SLRs look about a million times better. Someone else poked fun at me because I plan to use CC SLs as a cheap race wheel and said I was crazy to spend an extra thousand plus to save a couple hundred grams and for the looks on a wheel you can't true or repair easily. . . Maybe so.

I loved my carbone sl's but just dont see the logic to carbon spokes. Crashes happen, rocks ping off spokes, chains drop. ***** happens and metal is just better for that application.

I have a set of Cosmic Sl's and rode on them almost exclusively for over a year. (training and racing)
A few months ago, out of fear of ruining my nice wheels on a training ride I picked up a set of CXP22's for training and decided to reserve the Carbones for race-day.
After three weeks of training on the 22's, I did my first race on the Carbones.
Felt super fast, powering along sitting near the front.
Hit the first decent climb of the course (10-11%) and stood up to get some leverage.
Spoke breaks on the front and I veer off into a gravel driveway and faceplant.
Not sure what happened, but I'm glad I didn't take down any of the ~30 riders behind me.
Carbon wheels kind of scare me now. Probably going to buy a nice set of aluminum to race on soon.

I picked up a set for little more than I was willing to pay for the more aero front wheel I was looking for. I haven't ridden the rear at all, since I'm 200 lbs and have torn up 20-spoke rear wheels before, but I absolutely love the front. Stiff and strong, pretty doggone aero, and light enough for my big fat behind.
