Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Your other passion/hobby

New here. Before started biking I spent most of my time climbing, mostly rocks including a little alpine. What's your other passion?

Snowboarding. There aren't any mountains here, and not any snow, but I just love snowboarding.

Hiking, photography, kayaking, and being in the mountains.

Edit: Sometimes I can combine three of my hobbies.

No Limit Texas Hold'em. Last year I was playing 40-60 hours per week on top of my 40 hour work week, but I've moved away from such a late-night lifestyle. Now I'm more into running and reading literature and political discourse.

Music. Guitar, bass, and drums. Gig regularly on bass and guitar. Just picked up drums about 3 months ago but already done 5 or 6 services at church on them.

Boating. I spend every weekend doing that, combined with cycling. I do get funny looks walking around in bike clothes though

Bass is certainly a passion (feels disingenuous to call it a "hobby" when I've done it professionally for ~35 years) but since they won't let me into church I have to perform in various dens of iniquity: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GJHnfFaHeFg

I suppose you could say my "hobby" is ****-****ing my wife's ***
...but then they definitely wouldn't let me into church.

That's funny. I just found those two sites last night. We just got back from Italy, and for some reason caffe americano now tastes like crap.

I gotta say, all the bickering over grinders, tampers, semi-auto vs. manual, and crema just felt really familiar, thanks to my time on bf. Who'd have thought so much could be said about a freakinging cuppa coffee?

Or that the worst barista in the smallest coffe stand in the podunkiest little Italian town could pull a shot of espresso twice as good as the best I've had at Starbucks.
