Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

This is a weird bike. It's built around a cheap track frame that I got back when I was into fixed gear riding. I love the frame to death, and because I currently can't afford a new bike, I turned my track bike into a road bike. 1x8, Shimano 5501 rear der, 6600 brakes, 6400 bar-ends. I have a Velocity A23 front wheel leftover, and just picked up a cheap Alex rear wheel (which is actually nicely wide-rimmed). The conversion only cost about $150, and it's like having a totally different bike!

Note that the cables are taped to the frame due to lack of bosses...gets the job done.

I dont see the pic. But I agree, the bike looks really good.

What are the things on the front wheel spokes?

Those are Reelights, simple magnetic powered lights. I haven't gotten around to installing the rear wheel light since making the conversion, I'll probably do that today. My GF got them for me about a year ago, they are quite convenient.

Here's my upgraded 1990 414 Miyata steel lugged Frame. Mostly 5600 105 parts with ultegra shifters. super fun to ride a little on the heavy side but awesome for a poor grad student like myself (TV is the roommates)

I have been riding a 2004 BMC SL01 or known as the SLOw1. Has Ultegra components, it really needs a tuneup to shift better, however it does 50 miles once a week. I love the bike but I have been planning to purchase a gunner or waterford later this year. I want to put Dura-Ace components on it, but thats just plans.

Thanks. I have a track crankset on there, 144mm BCD, but the chainring is 3/32" so works for road. 46T.

Sorry for the cell cam pic, just got it today from LBS. First road bike for an MTB'er..very stock 2012 C'dale CAAD 8-6 compact! Newly-designed frame, 10-speed tiagra (can be upgraded later), cool color combo (looked like a poor man's EVO to me hehe) sold me. Can't wait to put miles on this baby! Reflectors to go. Stem to be slammed. Wheels and pedals to follow next pay check

Just mounted my new wheels on my Trek... I think I need to upgrade the bike, but I like it so far, just the shifters need a change so I can shift in the drops.

It would probably be better to just upgrade all at once (get a new bike). But transfer the wheels.
