Strava doesn't seem to like my Garmin GPSmap 60CSx.

I just did two smallish climbs using Strava for the first time. How the hell are these guys climbing at 26 kph?!?!

Joined too. Thanks for setting this up.
I've been using Strava to quickly compare my performance since I usually ride similar routes/segments. Of course, comparing my performance to others is fun too. Strava does both much better than Garmin Connect or the PC-based solutions I have tried. I haven't tried Training Peaks.

So dude (Leaderboard) has 710 miles this week and it's only Thursday. What, is this guy in the Pro Cycling Challenge just running up numbers from his jersey pocket? That's not fair, man.

Looks like he had his device on after he was done.
They should implement some sort of check for that.

I've found that Strava underestimates power. I had a 705 before I got my Powertap and there is one climb where I was comparing the Strava estimates with the Powertap readings. This climb never has any wind and I haven't gained or loss any weight. The Strava estimates were on average 10% lower than the Powertap readings for comparable times. I told Strava about this, but I couldn't seem to get my point across and I gave up.

Are you using a HRM with Strava? The less data there is to work with, the wider the range of the power estimate. I had an issue with how Strava interpreted my GPX files exported from SportyPal. The difference was also about 10%, but they were responsive even if they couldn't come up with a definitive answer as to why my SP data would differ from Strava's. To me, data is data - there has to be something about how Strava's engine interprets the data when imported.

Its more fun when your abilities are underestimated. It goes with the whole self-loathing thing and makes you work harder.

I had no idea there was a leaderboard. Sweet! 2 rides in for the week and I'm 3rd Overall / Climber and 5th for TT. Getsome! If it wasn't for Hurricane Irene I'd probably give UMD a run for his $.

How do you see the leaderboard?
OK: Compete, Leaderboard, select "Bike Forums" from the dropdown.

I've given up on the leader board until my professional fit on September 2nd. I've blamed a lot of my discomfort on the bike on my fitness level, but now I'm starting to develop new pains that I didn't get last year despite me losing 20+ lbs since I started working out again.
Once I get all that squared away I'd like to do 200-300 miles a week until the snow arrives.

Speaking of the Leaderboard, how exactly is Time Trial measured? Is it for the duration of one ride, or parts of a ride? Minimum/maximum distance? I tried looking on Strava.com and the answer did not jump out at me.
Did move up to 4th on a Climb KOM though Hoping to jump to #1 this weekend.

Throw the stick!!!!
I believe you are right. I did a pretty fast one the other day but it had about a mile or so of -1% so it wasn't included.

Ugh. I did a 5.2 mile stretch at 21.1 mph, but the grade was a -.7% and only 14 minutes plus.
KILLIN me. I am NOT going to become obsessed with moving up the leaderboard other than commuting and climbing.
