Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Which website do you use to track your rides?

From searching the forums it looks like people generally use the following to track their rides:

ridewithgps.com
mapmyride.com
garminconnect.com
bikejournal.com
strava.com
sportypal.com
dailyburn.com
livestrong.com
Endomondo.com (smartphone app)
My Tourbook software
Sport Tracks software
spreadsheet
handwritten notes
other

I just got a Garmin 500 and want to start logging my rides. Would like to get feedback in helping me improve my rides. What do you use and what features does the site have that make it unique?

I use the Cyclemeter app for GPS which stores all the ride data on the phone so there's no real need to use a website. Nevertheless, I like some of the features of Strava so I've started uploading my rides there. It's just a matter emailing the GPX to upload@strava.com from within Cyclemeter. For mapping rides, I still like ridewithgps.com.

I use Strava mostly for this stuff. Nice to see my ride laid out and I also like the competition aspect of it. I also use training peaks, but mostly to schedule workouts until I get a power meter. Then I'll be using it for analysis w/ the WKO+

I use SportTracks, which isn't a web site. I don't really need to make my riding available to the world, although sometimes I like having maps and charts.

Runkeeper. You should add it to the poll, especially since it kicks MapMyRide's ass.

I can't believe you didn't list BF as a place for tracking rides. Here you can find power, speed, etc. Reporting is easier than the other places since you don't have to upload any data, and the numbers look better too.

garmin connect. don't really need any more than that.

strava is looking pretty cool though..especially now that it is free. trainingpeaks premium looks sweet, but the free version seems worthless, and i cant justify spending $130 on the premium account.

I was keeping a spreadsheet and using mycyclinglog. I have been using the MMR program for my Android, which I just got a Ram mount for, as my cycling computer. It is accurate enough for my recreational riding, but I would like to think that if you bought a membership that the GPS/speed tracking becomes significantly better. I can do the same ride on two different days and see a 2 mile difference in them.

Garmin Connect for everything.
Strava for group rides/races/epic rides/KoM comparison stuff.
DailyMile because I've used it since day one. It has every single mile I've put on the bike. I also use it because it posts to facebook/twitter. I get lots of comments from people I know about how much I ride and it's turned into a bit of accountability for me. I feel like they'll notice if I don't ride as much, so I keep riding as much as I can.

Interesting. So I just uploaded the same ride to Strava and GarminConnect, and some of the numbers are different. For example, Strava has my top speed as being 3 mph faster, and Garmin says i burned almost double the calories as Strava. How can that be if both are working off the same data?
