Tour De BBQ 2011 KCMO.

1. Will anyone be riding this with me? I'm driving up from Dallas to participate. I'd love to ride along with some forum friends.

2. Will anyone donate a couple of bucks to my cause? So far I have raised a little over $800 to fight cancer, but I'd like to get to a thousand dollars raised, which is 1/15th of the total fundraising goal for the ride.

IF you would like to donate, go here and click the "donate" button.

Not after the low quality of last year's ride. It was completely unsupported for about 400 of the ~1500 riders. Clearly working to be 'bigger' without concern for maintaining quality. (The first year was absolutely fantastic - but it just didn't scale for that second year - there were only ~400 of us total the first year)

I sure hope you don't have that kind of experience this year, coming all that way.

No food/drink at the rest stops (running out with hundreds of people left in line), no SAGs, etc.

So far I'm hearing good things about this year's ride. I'm looking for more details, but so far it sounds like (despite their attitude after last year's ride) someone actually looked at the issues and tried to address them.

It will be on next year's 'maybe' list, instead of this year's 'hell no'.

IT was pretty good this year - but this time the rest stops were not ready for early riders.

I'm also a little disappointed in the fundraising aspect - I worked hard to be in the top by the time the ride started, and now they are extending the fundraising to Nov. - I did email the fundraising coordinator several times about deadlines and recognition for top fundraisers - and never got a response. Maybe announcing prizes for fundraisers prior to the day of the ride would have driven more people to raise more.

Here's hoping I stay in second place.
