Trash or Treasure Part 2 Holdsworth
I think this one is a little more of trash than treasure as its missing alot of parts..still 90.00...i thought id take a gamble...was on craigslist and the guy lived..literally...two miles away. says super mistral on it and its a holdsworth..thats about all i know...it does have a nice campy headset however and the frame looked like it was pretty nice although it has its share of scratches but black is fairly easy to touch up. not sure what i will do with it. probably take more money to make it rideable than its worth but still...it might be a nice project

Stop reading my posts!
looks just like my Super Mistral (except that mine has a metal badge) what's the serial number?
I have mine set up as a single chainring daily rider, it's very comfortable. I'd have bought Joe's for $90 in a hot NY minute!

I love getting frames is this state. More fun then a completed bike.
the annoying parts are done, the headset, bb and seatpost size. You can either add the missing parts,
-chain
-cables
-rear derailleur
-seat and tyres
or build it up with a differnt group or town bike with racks etc
or if 60cm is too big, put frame (with bb, hs and post) up on ebay, I would be intrested

Because it is obvious the frame is about 7 cm too small for you. This is why you show so much seatpost!

Here is a link to Holdsworth info:
https://www.nkilgariff.com/
But I only see "Super" Mistral last mentioned in 1974 but it would have a head badge versus a decal. Your paint scheme is interesting. Retro Holdsworth with panels but decal instead of head badge and Holdsworth decal on seat tube instead of "Holdsworth" decal'd down it on both sides like a 1980 and beyond would have to go with that head tube decal. Neat find!

I got to measure that frame, it's a 23" C-T and with a 57cm top-tube.
I checked the angles and it is very relaxed at only 72 degrees. Has very distinctive full-wraparound seatstay treatment.
Condition is quite good actually, but I didn't try to move the seatpost. Parts mix is... ...mixed.
Ser# on bb shell is 001280
Has a Cinelli-style sloping crown.
I have a Holdsworth Special from 1981 in the same size, but it's completely different in all the details.
I really wish this frame was 2cm larger. It has such an old-fashioned look to it, but those metal head badges go for almost $100.
So is the verdict pointing to a 1978?

Stop reading my posts!
I don't know, Dave: all the details I see are consistent with my (earlier '70s, 001240 (serial # stamped on BB)) Super Mistral except for that (missing) headbadge: no braze-ons except for the cable guide on chain stay, long Campy drop-outs, same colors and decals, nutted brakes...if it's as late as '78 I'd be surprised.
My metal badge doesn't say "Worthy" above the prancing horse, it says WF Holdsworth, not sure if that's significant.
Check out this old thread of Holdsworth pics and numbers:
https://www.bikeforums.net/showthread...ght=holdsworth
Edit: checking pix on the CR page for Holdsworth, there's a 1969 Pro with the same "Worthy" decal on the headtube...yet a 1984 with a metal badge. I have a feeling it was a bit of "parts-bin pot luck" in some cases, perhaps even something that could be an optional choice for the buyer (?).

Thanks for that info.
I do suspect however that the pictured '69 frame is a (perhaps factory) re-paint?
As for the '84 with metal badge, could be an owner's embellishment? I was tempted to do the same thing to my '81 "Special", but the auction for the metal headbadge went almost to triple digits.
Yours and my serial number are just 40 bikes apart. I would have thought the numbers would be larger by that time but confess I don't know much about the company's production history.
